Mosaddek Hossain Masterclass Powers Bangladesh 284/8 Against Australia


A solid knock from Mosaddek Hossain has set up Bangladesh to score 284/8 against Australia in the 1st ODI match of the home tour played at Dhaka.

He scored 86* runs off 70 deliveries and has set up Bangladesh to post a competitive total against the mighty Aussies.

After being invited to bat first, Saif Hassan and Tanzid Hasan Tamim opened the innings while Xavier Bartlett opened the bowling attack.

Nathan Ellis brought the first breakthrough, dismissing Saif Hassan on a full and around the off stump as the ball got outside edge towards second slip, where Marnus Labuschagne picked the catch.

However, Tanzid Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto forged a solid 94-run partnership for the second wicket. Tanzid Hasan smashed his fifty and went on to score 54 runs before being dismissed by Nathan Ellis.

He got dismissed on the back of the hand slowly delivery from Nathan Ellis, where the batter mistimes the ball in the air towards mid-on. Xavier Bartlett takes a step back and takes a comfortable catch as Bangladesh lose their second wicket for 106 runs.

Litton Das, who came to bat at No.4, was dismissed by Matt Renshaw as he took the catch. Matt Renshaw bagged his second wicket, dismissing Najmul Hossain Shanto for 67 runs. He got dismissed after a stunning catch by Cooper Connolly in long-off.

Hridoy, who scored 31 runs, got dismissed by Xavier Bartlett as Bangladesh lost 5 wickets for 215 runs.

However, Mosaddek Hossain made a stunning fifty, pushing the side’s score past 250 runs.

Meanwhile, Liam Scott bagged the wickets of Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taskin Ahmed for 3 and 20 runs. Nathan Ellis bagged his third wicket, dismissing Tanvir Islam for 5 runs.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz remained unbeaten, 86 runs off 70 deliveries, which included 7 fours and 3 sixes.

Nathan Ellis bagged three wickets, Liam Scott and Matt Renshaw bagged two wickets each, and Xavier completed his spell with a wicket tally.
