“People More Focused On Playing IPL”: Rishabh Pant’s Blunt Admission

“People More Focused On Playing IPL”: Rishabh Pant’s Blunt Admission

India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant feels the lure of the IPL is understandable but budding cricketers should always focus on playing for the country as “everything else” follows thereafter. Pant, who was part of India’s triumphant Champions Trophy squad but did not get a game, made his international debut back in 2017. “Since childhood, I had only one dream—to play for India. I never even thought about playing in the IPL. I think today, people are more focused on the IPL. Of course, it’s a great platform, but I believe that if your goal is to play for your country, everything else—including the IPL—will eventually fall into place,” Pant told JioHotstar. “If you have that bigger mindset, success will follow. I always believed that I would play for India one day, and God has been kind. At 18, I got the opportunity to make my debut, and I am grateful for that,” said the 27-year-old. Pant is known for flamboyant style of play and some of his trademark shots include a one-handed six with …

Following India’s unprecedented Champions Trophy success, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya opened up on BCCI’s call of not sending the team to Pakistan for the tournament. India played all of their matches in Dubai under a hybrid model, including Sunday’s final against New Zealand which they won by a margin of four wickets. After the final at the Dubai International Stadium, Hardik addressed a question regarding India not travelling to Pakistan for the marquee event. He suggested that he is no one to decide why the team was not allowed to travel to Pakistan. “I am sure Pakistani people living in Dubai must have enjoyed our performance. The question of why we didn’t go is way above my pay grade,” Hardik was quoted as saying by Times Now. Hardik also spoke on the team’s victory and his personal journey.  “Bowling will take care of itself. The year was full of learnings and challenges. My mindset has never taught me to run away from challenges. I have always believed that if the challenges are tough, throw …

Rohit Sharma is easily the most “honest and clean hearted man” who has always let others grow, feels India’s T20 skipper Suryakumar Yadav as he expressed confidence that his skipper will lead the country to ICC Champions Trophy triumph against New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday. “He is very natural and instinctive. Whatever he does he keeps others in front and watches others grow. He is an easily approachable man. He always raises his hand and say I will do this for you. He is very natural on and off the field, clean-hearted, very honest,” Surya said at the ‘India Today Conclave’. “At 36…”: Virat Kohli’s Honest Admission After Match-Winning Ton vs Pakistan In Champions Trophy

“At 36…”: Virat Kohli’s Honest Admission After Match-Winning Ton vs Pakistan In Champions Trophy

Virat Kohli said his plan was to attack the pacers and take less risk against the spinners in the high-pressure Champions Trophy clash against Pakistan on Sunday and having steered the team home with a sparkling hundred, his 36-year-old body is happy to get a week-long break before the next game. India’s six-wicket win against arch-rivals has almost sealed a semifinal spot for the side and all but knocked the hosts out of the tournament. Kohli got majority of his runs from running the quick singles and doubles as he collected only seven fours in his 100 not out off 111 balls. “At 36, a week off is very good. It takes a lot out of me to put in that much effort,” said the superstar referring to the last group A clash against New Zealand on March 2. He completed his 51st ODI hundred with a four off the last ball of the match. Heading into the high-stakes game, Kohli had his fair share of struggles against the spinners. “It feels good …

“Matthew Didn’t Say…”: Shaheen Afridi’s Big Admission On Altercation With South Africa Star

Shaheen Afridi broke the silence about his heated verbal exchange with Matthew Breetzke during the ODI tri-nation series match between Pakistan and South Africa on Wednesday. The incident occurred in the 28th over of the first innings when Shaheen deliberately got in the way of batter Matthew Breetzke, who ran for a single. Shaheen’s action caused inappropriate physical contact, which led to a heated argument. The Pakistan speedster admitted that he had teased the South African batter in an attempt to unsettle Breetzke and take his wicket. He also clarified that the tension was confined to the field as both players met and shook hands after the match. “For the first time, Matthew didn’t say anything. I kept teasing him to get a wicket. Whatever happened on the field stayed there. Matthew and I met, shook hands, and became good friends,” Shaheen said during an interview as quoted from Geo News. In the aftermath of Shaheen’s action, he was fined 25 percent of his match fee. He was found to have breached Article …

On Jasprit Bumrah Missing Champions Trophy, Kapil Dev’s Blunt Admission: “Don’t Think Any Other…”

Legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev said the injury-enforced absence of impact players like Jasprit Bumrah can hamper any team, and the former skipper hoped that India’s pace talisman will return to action sooner rather than later. Bumrah, who was named the ICC Test and Cricketer of the Year for 2024, was on Tuesday ruled out of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy due to a lower back injury. The 31-year-old, who has already undergone a lower back surgery in 2022, sustained another stress-related injury while bowling in the final Test against Australia at Sydney, where he pulled out after sending down 10 overs in the first innings. “The quality of cricket Jasprit Bumrah has played in the last two years has been really impactful and I don’t think any other fast bowler in the world has been able to produce that kind of a performance,” said Kapil in an interview on Cricket Adda Youtube channel shared with PTI Videos. “Big players like Bumrah, R Ashwin, Anil Kumble, Zaheer Khan who gave out match winning performances …

“You Get Scared When…”: Shikhar Dhawan’s Blunt Admission On Playing Under MS Dhoni

Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan untangled the characteristics that define and differentiate the captaincy of India’s celebrated stars, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. In his record-shattering career, Dhawan was a part of the two captaincy eras that lifted the status of Indian cricket to a sheer force of dominance, redefining the standards of cricket. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, ‘Gabbar’ debuted for India in the international circuit. While with his long-time friend Virat, Dhawan contributed to turning India into a modern-day giant across all formats. For the former explosive southpaw, Dhoni’s calm demeanour and experience of making his team perform at optimum level stood out the most. “All of them have their own characters and nature. Dhoni is very relaxed. He doesn’t talk much. He talks during the meeting. Even before the match, every captain talks. He is very relaxed. Even after the match, he doesn’t talk much. So Dhoni bhai’s presence was very strong, and of course, when I played under him, he had already become an experienced captain and had achieved so much …
