Aspiring India Cricketers To Be Turned Into Baseball Players For Olympics? Sports Ministry Says “Completely…”

File image of a baseball player© AFP =: The Sports ministry has rejected speculation that it would consider harnessing the country’s massive pool of aspiring cricketers to turn them into baseball medal prospects at the Asian Games or Olympics, saying that such an idea has never been discussed or considered at any level. A ministry source said that suggestions that this came up for discussion at the Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) meeting earlier this week are “wrong”, pointing out that baseball is not even a recognised national federation at this point. “This is completely imaginary. Baseball is not even recognised by the ministry. Why will SAI (Sports Authority of India) get into cricket or turning cricket players into baseball players?” a senior ministry source said. Baseball has been a part of the Asian Games since 1994 and the Olympic Games since 1992. India has never participated in the event. The future of Indian cinema lies in the hands of young filmmakers. With this thought, Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, director, MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, had rolled out this year’s MAMI Select. After a four-month selection process, four emerging filmmakers have been chosen for its Filmed on iPhone programme—Do Aur Do Pyaar (2024) writer Amrita Bagchi, Black Warrant co-director Rohin Raveendran Nair, playwright Chanakya Vyas, and assistant director Shalini Vijayakumar. They will receive mentorship from Konkona Sen Sharma, Lijo Jose Pellissery, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Vetrimaaran. Aspiring model-turned-cyber mule handler among 5 held in Pimpri Chinchwad; links to over 100 cases: Cops | India News

A YOUNG Bollywood aspirant from Odisha who was doing small time modelling gigs and ended up becoming a handler of a network of hundreds of cyber mule accounts with links to international masterminds in Cambodia, was arrested by cyber crime sleuths of Pimpri Chinchwad. The investigators also arrested five syndicate associates from Jharkhand, Gujarat and Maharashtra who handled mule accounts in over 100 cyber crime cases registered in India. The major breakthrough came when a cyber crime team of Pimpri Chinchwad police investigating a particular share trading cyber fraud registered earlier this month in which the victim was duped of `7.6 lakh on the promise of high returns. During the initial probe, zeroed in on a suspect, Shubham Londhe (24), from Pune’s Chikhali. Police found that Londhe was handling few mule accounts by himself and gave access of these accounts to another handler Sam David. Hockey India launches basic coaching course to cater to aspiring coaches

Hockey India on Wednesday announced the schedule for the basic coaching course, catering to individuals keen on pursuing coaching careers, including former players. The Coaching Course Level Basic is scheduled to be held online from June 24 to 29, and it will consist of five batches, each accommodating 40 candidates. The course is part of the Hockey India Coaching Education Pathway Development Programme and aims to cultivate and educate aspiring coaches, providing them with a platform to advance towards FIH Level Coaching Courses. Eligibility criteria Candidates having prior experience in coaching a district, school, or university hockey team, or have played at the national level or represented at the All India Inter University level for a minimum of three years are eligible for the course. Along with that, the candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively in the English language.
