Even thought sequels and franchise films were dime-a-dozen in Indian cinema, SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali films became the blueprint of sorts for every big-ticket film that followed. Almost every big star had two-part films, and in some cases like Mohanlal-Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Lucifer franchise, even three films. However, after Baahubali, Rajamouli is yet to make a two-parter or a franchise film. His RRR was a standalone film that starred Ram Charan and Jr. NTR and became a global success of epic proportions. Even as there were speculations about his next with Mahesh Babu, tentatively titled SSMB 29, might take Rajamouli back to his Baahubali days, newer reports have surfaced giving clarity to the same.
