The deceased were identified as Kavdubai Dadaji Mohurle (45), Anubai Dadaji Mohurle (46), Sangeeta Santosh Chaudhary (36), and Sunita Kaushik Mohurle (33), all residents of Gunjewahi Village. Forest officials said it was one of the rarest and deadliest tiger assaults reported in the state in recent times. A heatwave alert was issued by the administration in Maharashtra`s Chandrapur after the district recorded a temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius on Monday, reported the PTI. The district administration has issued a heatwave alert for three days, advising citizens to take precautions when they step out. A tiger attacked and killed a 57-year-old man in the Ballarpur forest range of Chandrapur district, Maharashtra, on Tuesday, forest department officials said. The tiger was tranquilised and captured shortly after the attack, they added. The victim, Lalsingh Maravi, a resident of Manikpur in the neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, was performing bamboo removal work in a forest area assigned to contractor Nagin Puglia when the tiger ambushed him, killing him instantly, news agency PTI reported. Upon receiving a report, officials from the Central Chanda Division and Ballarpur range, along with forest staff, rushed to the site. There they discovered the tiger sitting near Maravi’s body. Efforts to drive the tiger away were unsuccessful, prompting the forest department to call in a Rapid Response Team and wildlife experts. The team tranquilised the animal, and a veterinary officer examined it before the tiger was placed in a cage and transported to the Transit Treatment Centre in Chandrapur. A sub-divisional officer (SDO) has lodged a police complaint in Maharashtra`s Chandrapur district after 6,853 applications were filed wrongly during online voter registration, an official said on Sunday. The SDO of Rajura division has lodged a complaint, and the applications were rejected in the constituency, the official added. Collector Vinay Gowda said the Election Commission of India conducted special online voter registration, and they received applications in large numbers from October 3. Assistant voter registration officers and tehsildars of Rajura, Korpana, Jivati and Gondpipari found that 6,853 applications did not have photos, date of birth and residence proof, and some had wrong information, he said. The collector said these applications filed through the Voter Helpline App or National Voter Service Portal (NVSP) Portal were rejected after verification. Rajura SDO and voter registration officer Ravindra Mane said the applications were rejected according to the prescribed procedure. At least seven students sustained minor injuries after their school bus overturned in Maharashtra`s Chandrapur district on Saturday, the police said, reported the PTI. The incident took place near Hardona village, an official said.
