The city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission approved an application for a gate Tuesday after Barbara Lorber, who has owned the building since 1978, lamented “the endless presence of interest in my celebrity staircase.” The stately three-story building in Greenwich Village’s historic district was used for exterior shots of the apartment occupied by Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker. “I’d hoped for literally decades that this would pass,” Lorber told the commission during heartfelt testimony. “But at this point, I think even someone as stubborn as I am has to admit that this isn’t going away in the near future.” The stoop has been chained off …

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola reveals what he said to goalkeeper Stefan Ortega in animated chat after 2-2 draw with Brentford | Football News

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was seen having an animated conversation with goalkeeper Stefan Ortega after the final whistle in the match against Brentford after the defending champions threw away a 2-0 lead to end the match at 2-2. “I said how good he played in actions with the ball, how good his pass (was) to Erling (Haaland), how happy and satisfied I am,” Guardiola said after he was asked what had transpired between him and the goalie. “What I missed today especially was that we didn’t take the right decision in the final third, in the actions where we could run, long balls we won and we could run, and in that moment we didn’t take the right decisions. I give credit to them, Brentford has always been a really, really tough opponent … they are an honest team, they are a generous team, I like the way they play, but today we created a lot,” he added. Inquest Opens Into 2018 Helicopter Crash That Killed Leicester City Owner

Inquest Opens Into 2018 Helicopter Crash That Killed Leicester City Owner

File photo of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.© X (formerly Twitter) An inquest into the 2018 helicopter crash that killed the owner of Leicester City Football Club opened on Monday. Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four others were killed when the Thai billionaire’s personal helicopter crashed shortly after taking off from the Premier League club’s King Power Stadium following a match in October 2018. Catherine Mason, the coroner presiding over the hearing, told the jury that under English law the role of an inquest is simply to determine the facts over how someone died rather than make rulings on individual guilt or innocence. “An inquest hears evidence so the jury can make findings of fact and come to a conclusion about the deaths,” said Mason, sitting at Leicester City Hall. “Nobody is on trial here. “An inquest does not decide matters of criminal or civil liability,” added Mason, who also said the hearing was expected to last for between two and three weeks. In a tribute read to the court by the lawyer for the family of Srivaddhanaprabha, …

‘He has to decide, not me’: Pep Guardiola on Kyle Walker potentially leaving Manchester City | Football News

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said that he won’t stand in the way of defender Kyle Walker if he wants to leave the club. There are rumours that the talented right back could join the MLS, AC Milan or the Saudi Pro League. “He is an incredible player with his incredible physicality. When he is focused he is unstoppable as a right-back. He’s a top-class player. If he is fit he can play one, two, three, four more years as a professional. I have never seen a player with these physical conditions in my career. But if he wants to explore, the club is going to explore, and he has to decide, not me. It’s not my decision,” Guardiola said on Saturday. The 34-year-old Walker has struggled for form in a City team that is 12 points behind league leader Liverpool and recently went on a run of one win in 13 games. He has won 15 major trophies since joining the club from Tottenham in 2017 and established himself as one of the best …

Squads in action to curb migrant sellers, alms-seekers at traffic junctions in Kozhikode city

Police and Motor Vehicles department squads have adopted stringent measures to prevent migrant sellers and alms-seekers from creating inconvenience to motorists at major traffic junctions in Kozhikode city. The action comes in the wake of a recent order issued by the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) responding to public grievances about the practice that is disrupting traffic flow and affecting road safety. The police said flash inspections were being conducted at major junctions to identify such groups. A preliminary report had been submitted to higher authorities following the initial round of inspections in the city, they added For years, the lack of effective action by road enforcement squads has allowed such sellers and alms-seekers to use traffic intersections as collection points. There have reportedly been instances where small children were forced to accompany these groups in harsh conditions, including scorching heat. “There were no forcible actions to remove these groups in the past, as many officers were concerned that it could be seen as a human rights issue. The recent order from the SHRC will …
