Vinesh Phogat effectively out of 2026 Asian Games contention as WFI releases selection criteria

Vinesh Phogat has effectively been shut out of the 2026 Asian Games selection process after the Wrestling Federation of India announced eligibility criteria for the upcoming trials. According to the WFI circular released on Wednesday, only medal winners from the 2025 Senior National Wrestling Championships, the 2026 Senior Federation Cup, and the Under-20 National Wrestling Championships will be eligible to compete in the Asian Games selection trials later this month. The criteria leaves Vinesh ineligible, as the former world championships medallist has not competed since the Paris Olympics and therefore does not meet the qualification requirements laid out by the federation. Comeback plans hit setback amid fresh controversy The development comes less than a week after Vinesh announced her return to wrestling following an 18-month absence from the sport. She was expected to compete in the women’s 57kg category at the Senior Open Ranking Tournament in Gonda. However, the wrestler recently alleged that she faced difficulties in registration and raised concerns over the venue being located in Gonda, the political stronghold of former WFI president …

A woman decides to make fun of a man. Honestly, it is all in good faith. However, the man isn’t quite happy about being the butt of collective humour. Honestly, it is okay for the man to get riled up. Now, he decides to beat the woman. And it is not just a push or a shove, but an active beating that leaves her clothes in tatters, lips bleeding, and marks of the assault very visible on her face. Now, the hero sees her in this condition. Plus, she is the heroine of the film. What should the hero do? What can he do when he is the man who beat her up. And we are asked to laugh at the predicament because she is used to being ‘playfully’ beaten up like this, and when asked for an apology, all he can manage is a fart? These are the protagonists of Bala’s Vanangaan, but there’s no need for judging them for this, simply because in the worlds the filmmaker has been creating for 25 years …

Tim Paine on Sydney pitch for 5th IND vs AUS Test: I would have given it the lowest possible rating and effectively placed the SCG on notice | Cricket News

Former Australian cricketer Tim Paine slammed the pitch for the final Test at Sydney Cricket Ground. The Test ended up in two-and-a-half days with none of the teams reaching the 200 run-mark. The surface was seaming around throughout the Test match and showed signs of inconsistent bounce as the cracks opened up. “It meant batting relied more on luck than skill and although the ICC gave it a satisfactory rating, I would have given it the lowest possible rating and effectively placed the SCG on notice: dish up something like that again and you will be suspended from hosting international cricket,” Paine wrote in his column vs News Corp via Yahoo. Earlier ICC has rated the Sydney pitch as ‘satisfactory,’ which is the second-highest category. “The SCG has been striving to bring out their unique characteristics of early pace and bounce before the pitch wears and spins. This year was a step in the right direction to achieving this which provided an exciting finish to the Border Gavaskar Trophy series and bodes well for the Ashes …
