The Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police recovered over 492 grams of heroin from the village Dhariwal of Amritsar district, officials said on Tuesday. “On April 1, 2025, based on a specific information regarding presence of a suspected packet in border area of district Amritsar, BSF troops in collaboration with Punjab Police carried out an extensive search operation in the suspected area,” the Border Security Force stated on Tuesday. According to the officials, the search culminated at about 08:30 am and recovered one packet of suspected heroin. “The search culminated at about 08:30 am, leading to the recovery of one packet of suspected heroin (Gross weight- 492 Grams) alongwith some medicines wrapped in transparent tape with 03 illumination strips and 01 steel ring attached to the packet. This recovery took place near a cattle shed adjacent to the village Dhariwal of district Amritsar,” it added. The Kochi City police arrested a 38-year-old man from Malappuram on charge of possessing 508 grams of suspected MDMA, on Sunday. Muhammad Nishad was arrested, based on a tip-off, during a raid at Puthukalavattom. Narcotics Superintendent of Police Abdul Salam led the raid. Nishad was engaged in drinking water supply business at Aluva. A probe is on to identify from where he procured the drug and details of the others involved in the case. In another raid by the Maradu police, three persons from Assam were arrested from Vyttila with 10 grams of suspected brown sugar and 2.5 grams of ganja. Similarly, six people who were allegedly engaged in gambling were arrested by the Cheranaloor police from a tourist home. A sum of ₹42,890 was seized from them. In a crackdown on drug-trafficking, the Payyannur police in Kannur, Kerala, arrested three individuals in possession of 166.68 grams of MDMA from a lodge on the Perumba bypass road. The accused – Mohammed Shamnad (35) from Kozhikode, P.K.A. Asif (29) and Mohammed Muhad Mustafa (29) of Vadakkumbad, Ramanthali – were taken into custody late on Thursday (March 27) night. Acting on a tip-off received by Special branch ASI Manoj, the police raided a room at the lodge where Shamnad was staying. A total of 108.5 grams of MDMA was recovered from his bag in the cupboard, while the rest was found in the pockets of the other two accused. The authorities also seized ₹1.5 lakh in cash from each of them and a glass pipe wrapped with insulation tape suspected to be used for smoking meth. In a major drug haul, Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Manipur Police, recovered 578 grams of heroin worth around Rs 2.31 crore in the international market on Sunday in Manipur`s Senapati district, officials said. According to an official release, the operation, conducted on NH-02 between Tadubi and Mao Gate in Senapati district, was based on credible intelligence. The forces successfully seized the contraband at Marty`s Park, Mao Gate, on the National Highway, as stated by HQ IGAR (East). The Delhi Crime Branch arrested three drug traffickers who were engaged in supplying drugs in the area of Delhi or the National Capital Region. A total of 426 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession, police said. According to officials, at first, an accused identified as Mohd Nasir alias Kaku (19), involved in drug trafficking, was arrested near Anand Vihar Bus Terminal with 426 grams of heroin. At his instance, another accused, Mohd Bijli was apprehended from Delhi`s Haiderpur, police said.
