India and Singapore are cooperating in critical sectors like advanced manufacturing and semiconductors as the relations are on a “new trajectory” of growth, Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam said Thursday. Shanmugaratnam, on a five-day visit to India, held separate talks with President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a broad focus on expansion of bilateral ties. He is travelling to Odisha Friday where he will meet the state government’s leadership. The Singapore President told reporters that a data corridor between the GIFT City in Gujarat and his country is being explored so that the financial institutions of the two sides can safely exchange data. He said the possibility of a “corridor for renewable energy” between India and Singapore is also being looked at. Talking about Singapore-India ties in the last few decades, he said the two countries are now on a new trajectory after ties were upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership during Modi’s visit to the city state in September last year. “We are exploring new initiatives going beyond the existing active relationship …

Rebel Akali leader Wadala meets Akal Takht Jathedar over SAD’s membership drive | Latest News India

Chandigarh, Rebel Akali leader Gurpartap Singh Wadala on Thursday met the Akal Takht Jathedar seeking clarification regarding the supervision of the new membership drive of the Shiromani Akali Dal. Rebel Akali leader Wadala meets Akal Takht Jathedar over SAD’s membership drive After the meeting, Wadala claimed that it was only the seven-member committee, formed by the Akal Takht on December 2, which could undertake the membership drive of the 104-year-old political outfit. Wadala approached Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh in Amritsar after expressing resentment against the SAD leadership for not complying with the edict pronounced on December 2 by the highest temporal seat of Sikhs. While pronouncing religious punishment for SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal and other leaders for the “mistakes” committed by the SAD and its government in Punjab from 2007 to 2017 on December 2 last year, the Akal Takht had also formed a seven-member committee for starting the membership drive and holding the elections for the post of party president and other office bearers within six months. BCCI Unveils 10-Point Diktat After Australia Debacle, Threatens “Disciplinary Action Against…”

Cracking the whip on the Indian cricket team’s “star culture”, the BCCI on Thursday unveiled a 10-point policy to promote “discipline and unity”, making domestic cricket mandatory, imposing restriction on the presence of families and personal staff on tours and banning individual commercial endorsements during ongoing series. It is learnt that the restrictions were sought by head coach Gautam Gambhir in a review meeting of the team’s recent poor run. Non-compliance would invite sanctions, including cuts in the players’ retainer fee from central contracts and a bar on participating in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. The measures have been announced in the wake of the team’s disastrous tour of Australia during which it surrendered the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in a decade. The debacle was preceded by a series whitewash against a relatively under-strength New Zealand at home. The 10 diktats make it mandatory for players to seek Gambhir and chairman of selectors’ Ajit Agarkar’s approval for any relaxation, including the duration of stay for their families on tour. The Board …

It’s a natural partnership between a small country — Singapore — and a very large country — India. In a whole range of areas, our business relationships are thriving,” said President Shanmugaratnam highlighting that Singapore is the “largest investor in India for many years now”. “We are also exploring other initiatives in the digital space. Why did Albanian PM get down on one knee for Italy’s Giorgia Meloni at Abu Dhabi Summit? – India TV

Image Source : X Albanian PM Edi Rama goes down on one knee for Italian PM Georgia Meloni on her birthday. Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi turned heads as he spun a routine political encounter into a moment of glee and laughter in a very unpredicted rom-com-like move, Rama went down on one knee and serenaded Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni with “Tanti Auguri” on her 48th birthday.  Rama’s gesture, which came as a special birthday act, also included a gift of a beautiful scarf designed by an Italian designer who at present lived in Albania, showcasing the strong cultural ties between the two nations. Although Meloni, leader of the right-wing Brothers of Italy, and Rama, head of Albania’s Socialist Party, have differing political views, they have maintained a strong working relationship. This was demonstrated last year when Meloni struck a deal with Rama to send some of the migrants Italy rescues at sea to detention centers in Albania. While the centers are currently not operational …

India Open Super 750: Kiran George’s stirring fightback the highlight; Satwik-Chirag and PV Sindhu post contrasting wins | Badminton News

As Alex Lanier began to exert his dominance early on in the match against Kiran George, the commentators discussed what makes the French teenager a highly-rated prospect in men’s singles. The imposing physicality is the most obvious, but former Denmark head coach Steen Pedersen mentioned that his biggest strength was there are no evident weaknesses in his game. Among all the young Europeans he has seen, he makes the least errors, he added. At 20-14 in the first game, most of those observations rang true. The lead, and a place in the quarterfinal, were within the 18-year-old’s grasp. But Kiran had other ideas. In what was a stirring fightback, that turned the atmosphere inside the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium electric on Thursday afternoon, he saved six game points and took the opening game on the back of winning eight straight points.
