On March 3, Govin Gore, 75, received the ”shock of life” when he noticed a water bill on his cellphone. The bill, sent by the water tax department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), asked him to pay a staggering Rs 10,74,787 for February. Speaking to The Indian Express, Gore, a resident of the Shaniwar Peth area of Pune city, said his blood pressure rose after seeing the bill. “I was so shocked that I thought I would have a heart attack immediately.” Gore stated that his wife, who has heart issues, was equally shocked to see the bill. “Her blood pressure spiked, and she was extremely frightened at the thought of having to pay it,” he said. The film’s original run in March 2024 was also underwhelming, peaking at just Rs 30 crore in the country. Despite its global box office dominance, with earnings surpassing USD 700 million, the Dune franchise has failed to draw audiences in India, and here are a couple of reasons we feel are driving the negative reception. Tamil Nadu Budget 2025: The Finance Minister said that the state’s 2025-26 Budget has been drafted keeping in mind the growth for the next 25 years. Tamil Nadu Budget 2025: Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu today presented the fifth Budget of the present DMK regime for 2025-26. Thennarasu presented the Budget amid chaos by the Opposition members.  While presenting the Budget, Thennarasu said that one lakh new houses will be constructed at a budget outlay of Rs 3,500 crore under the ‘Kalaignar Kanavu Illam Thittam’ scheme. The Finance Minister said that the state’s 2025-26 Budget has been drafted keeping in mind the growth for the next 25 years.  Thennarasu said that the Rs 1,500 crore Adyar river restoration programme is progressing steadily and is expected to be completed within the next 15 months.   He also announced new combined drinking water projects in seven districts at a cost of Rs 6,668 crore. Ayushman: House panel backs Rs 10 lakh cover for all above 60 | India News

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health has recommended that the coverage under the Ayushman Bharat insurance scheme be increased to Rs 10 lakh per family “keeping in view huge expenditure on critical healthcare”, according to the report on demand for grants. The scheme provides Rs 5-lakh cover per family to the poorest 40% of the population and it was expanded last year to cover everyone over the age of 70 years, irrespective of their economic status. To further expand the scheme, the committee recommended that the age criteria be lowered to 60 years. “The Committee is of the view that age criteria of 70 years and above for Ayushman Vay Vandna Cards should be rationalised to 60 years and above irrespective of their socio-economic status for widening the coverage of the scheme in the better interest of common masses,” the report said. The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has written to Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya demanding an amendment to the Payment of Gratuity Act to enhance the maximum gratuity ceiling limit from the present ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh. The CITU has reasoned that the private sector workers should also get the Union government’s recent amendments to the Central Civil Services (Pension) rules increasing the gratuity ceiling of Union government employees to ₹25 lakh. In his letter to Mr. Mandaviya, CITU general secretary Tapan Sen said the Payment of Gratuity Act of 1972 was an important social security legislation to wage earning population in industries, factories, mines, oilfields, ports, railways, plantations and shops and establishments. He reminded the Minister that the Centre had amended the Act in 2018 after the ceiling was raised to ₹20 lakh in 2018 to Central government employees as part of implementing the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations.
