“After A Long Time I Am…”

What Did Anurag Kashyap Say About John Abraham’s The Diplomat? (Photo Credit – Instagram) John Abraham has become one of Bollywood’s leading faces in action and patriotic films. From Dhoom (2004), Force (2011), Madras Cafe (2013), to Parmanu (2018), and Batla House (2019), John’s filmography is dominated by intense, adrenaline-pumping roles. His ability to command the screen with his physicality and intense performances has made him a go-to choice for action-packed entertainers. However, while his films have consistently performed well at the box office, critics often noted that his acting prowess remained overshadowed by the larger-than-life action sequences and patriotic themes. Now, with The Diplomat, directed by Shivam Nair, John Abraham is earning praise for a performance that strips away the heroics and instead delves into the complexities of a real-life character. The film, in which John plays Indian diplomat JP Singh, has caught the attention of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who believes this is one of John’s best performances in a long time. How with long rallies and tall tosses, Malvika Bansod ousted World No 12 Yeo Jia Min

How with long rallies and tall tosses, Malvika Bansod ousted World No 12 Yeo Jia Min

Malvika Bansod politely declined the offer of having legendary coach Irwansyah sit for her All England opening match against Singaporean Yeo Jia Min. The Indonesian perfectly understood, as Malvika and her regular coach for the last two years at Thane’s Shrikant Vad Academy, Vignesh Devlekar, had a plan to take down the World No 12. The 23-year-old from Nagpur had lost to Jia Min previously and was coming off a first-round loss from Orleans. But pushing herself beyond limits of exhaustion, with both players utterly knackered by the end, Malvika recorded a stunning 21-13, 10-21, 21-17 victory to advance to the second round. Things were tricky at 11-9 in the decider, but Malvika did well to conserve energy, and mix her usually well-executed high tosses and lifts with attacking openings on cross shots as Jia Min tired out, fading off at the baseline. Vignesh had won five national ranking titles in 2019 in doubles, and played Maldives Open, the only international trip he could afford on his parents’ salaries that year – mother a BMC …

Laughing through barriers: Why it took women so long to enter the comedy scene

Laughing through barriers: Why it took women so long to enter the comedy scene

Who’s more funny? Men or women? While the age-old stereotype would make one think that men are funnier than women, there is no right answer to it. Skills do not have gender, bias does. For a long time, comedy has been dominated by the stereotype that women are not as funny as men, often dismissed as lacking the sharp wit or boldness needed to succeed in the field. This perception has been reinforced by societal norms that expect women to be poised, agreeable, and less outspoken, making the raw, unfiltered humor often celebrated in comedy seem unfeminine.  “The kind of wicked and dry humour that women writers are coming up with has a lot to do with suppression also because for very long they have been relegated to the corners of the room where their observant eye had a great time viewing various things that are going on in the society. When it comes to giving words to their observation, women are coming with tremendous humour,” notes writer and actor Sneha Desai who is credited …

Sunil Chhetri returns: Not good for progress of Indian football in the long run, says Bhaichung Bhutia | Football News

Less than two months ago, Indian football icon Sunil Chhetri took to Instagram with a lighthearted post: “Nobody told me picnics would be so much fun. I went to my first, and now I want more.” Having bid farewell to international football last June at 39, after an illustrious 19-year career, he was embracing retirement, enjoying life while still playing club football for his beloved Bengaluru FC. Well, those picnics will have to wait. In an unpredictable turn of events, India head coach Manolo Marquez has called the 40-year-old Chhetri out of retirement for the crucial March FIFA window. India, winless in 2024, face a friendly against the Maldives before a must-win AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Bangladesh on March 25. India are placed in a group alongside Bangladesh, Hong Kong, and Singapore and only the top team advances. Former India skipper Bhaichung Bhutia didn’t hold back, saying that having to call back India’s highest goalscorer from retirement is “not a good sign for the development of Indian football” and it’s “sad and unfortunate” that …
