Cyberabad Police have arrested three Nepali nationals in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly stealing gold and silver ornaments worth several crores of rupees from a villa in Hill Ridge Villas, Gachibowli, in a swift interstate operation. During interrogation, the accused confessed to using a key kept beside the locker to gain access to the valuables. They will be produced before a local court and brought to Hyderabad on a transit warrant. According to police officials, the theft first came to light on June 7 when an elderly couple returned home and discovered that a gold chain adorning a small idol was missing. A case was immediately registered, and an investigation was launched. The mystery deepened the following day, June 8, when the couple’s son opened a locker and found nearly 1.5 kg of silver ornaments missing. The Palarivattom police have arrested 10 suspected Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly residing illegally in the State without valid travel documents. The arrested are Lalon Hossain, 37, Riad Ali, 22, Sumon Mondal, 24, Fedos Mondol, 37, Johny Ahmed, 28, Rajibn Hussain, 26, Abdur Zabbasm, 50, and Mithan Ali, 34, all from Kushtia district in Bangladesh, and Rajshahi district natives Rahin Ali, 20, and Bulbul Ahamed, 26. They have been booked under relevant provisions of the Foreigners Act, 1946 and the Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1920. The arrests were made during an inspection held at a house near Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Link Road on Thursday evening based on intelligence inputs. According to the first information report (FIR), the members of the group were friends who had been engaged in scrap collection works in Kerala for nearly a year. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has said that Operation Toofan, the Kerala government’s anti-drug enforcement, has yielded significant results within days of its launch. A total of 728 cases have been registered, leading to the arrest of 795 people. The police have also seized various narcotic substances—625.6 grams of MDMA, 48.049 kg of ganja, 136 grams of hashish oil, and 480 ganja beedis. Narcotics substances worth over ₹60 lakh were seized within three days. As part of the crackdown, the investigation teams arrested two foreigners, suspected to be drug-racket kingpins, from New Delhi and Bengaluru, in separate cases registered in Pathanamthitta. Both of them have been accused of smuggling drugs into Kerala, Mr. Chennithala added. The public have been encouraged to share confidential information through three dedicated numbers. A special court in Gujarat’s Bhuj city on Friday sentenced six Pakistani nationals to 20 years in prison for smuggling heroin valued at ₹384 crore into India. A case was registered against the accused at ATS police station under the NDPS Act. Holding the six men guilty, Judge V A Buddha of the special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act court said they were involved in a serious crime of targeting India’s youth and pushing them into drug addiction. The accused were identified as Mohammad Wagher (31), Dadhansh Wagher (24), Sagar Wagher (23), Ismail Barala (75), Mohammad Kungra (24) and Ashfaq Wagher (26), all residents of Karachi.
