A day after leading a protest by students outside J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s residence, National Conference MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi has earned flak from both his party colleagues as well as ally Congress. While NC youth president Salman Sagar lashed out at Mehdi, saying “no one is bigger than the party”, Congress legislature party leader G A Mir said the NC MP’s presence at the protest should not have been “just for the cameras”. Apart from Mehdi, the opposition PDP’s Waheed ur Rehman Para and Iltija Mufti also attended Monday’s protest as general category students demanded the Abdullah government slash reservation in UT’s jobs and education to 25% from the current nearly 60%.
