India at Paris 2024 Paralympic Games LIVE Updates: India will be banking on their track and field athletes to win perhaps a couple of medals on the penultimate day of action at the Paris Paralympics 2024 on Saturday. It is the last day of track and field of action at the Stade de France as track and field events come to a close (minus marathons). After her agonising miss in the 100m final, Simran has another shot at a medal as she reached Women’s 200m T12 final. Simran won Semifinal 3 with a timing of 25.03s, that gave her the automatic qualification. Accompanied by her guide Abhay Singh, Simran finished first in her Round 1 Heat. Her final will be on Saturday night. In Men’s 400m – T47 Round 1, Dilip Gavit finished third in his heat and reached the final as well that will take place on Saturday. India at Paris 2024 Paralympic Games LIVE Updates: India have taken their overall tally at the Paris Paralympics to 25 – six more than the country won in Tokyo three years ago, and on Friday, they will have a chance to add to it. India will be banking on Tokyo Games silver medalist Praveen Kumar in the men’s high jump T64 final. India’s track and field athlete Simran, who came agonisingly close to win a medal and finished fourth in the Women’s 100m T12 will be in action in the Women’s 200 T12 event. Accompanied by her guide Abhay Singh, Simran clocked 12.31 seconds in the 100m final. If she comes through her Round 1 and semifinal races on Friday, the Indian contingent will be hoping for another historic medal on Saturday. 5 Sep 2024 8:31 AM GMT Avani Lekhara clinched Gold to begin India’s prowess, Manish Narwal added a silver to the same, while Mona Agarwal and Rubina Francis clinched Bronze respectively.  Avani Lekhara was the only athlete to compete in 2 finals, She ended in the 5th position at the 50m Rifle 3 positions.  All other Indian shooters, couldn’t qualify for the finals. Seven years ago, on December 4, 2017 the then 23-year-old Ajeet Singh Yadav, a research assistant at Laxmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE), Gwalior, suffered a tragic fall from a train. After attending a marriage in Jabalpur, Yadav along with his junior Anshuman had gotten out from the Kamayani Express at the Maihar station to fetch water. With the train starting, Yadav was the first to enter the bogey before Anshuman fell from the stairs of the bogey.
