Seven Congress MPs and one CPI(M) MP were suspended last month for unruly behaviour during the first part of the Budget Session, following a resolution passed by the House. The suspension was originally set to last for the entire session, which is scheduled to conclude on April 2. Opposition parties, however, have repeatedly urged the Speaker to revoke the suspensions during one of the sittings. Teachers from all 21 education blocks in Shimla district participated in the rally, demanding the withdrawal of the notification issued by the Education Department last year about the new campus or cluster system, with association office-bearers stating, “The September 23, 2025, notification grants complete administrative control and management of primary education to school principals, which is against the interests of primary teachers.” General secretary Hem Prakash Verma said, “Since 1984, primary education has been functioning under a separate administrative structure and cluster system. With the implementation of the new arrangement, work will become centralised and can adversely affect the quality of education. The family members of Dr Payal Tadvi, who died by suicide in 2019, allegedly due to harassment by her seniors, have written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, seeking revocation of a notification, which removed special public prosecutor  (SPP) Pradip Gharat from the trial in the case. In her letter to the CM, Payal’s mother Abeda sought reappointment of Gharat as SPP till the trial concludes and she gets justice. On March 7, the law and judiciary department issued the notification to cancel the appointment of Gharat with immediate effect and appointed another lawyer as the SPP. The trial in the case against Payal’s three seniors — Dr Bhakti Mehare, Dr Ankita Khandelwal and Dr Hema Ahuja — is yet to begin. In February, Gharat moved an application to add as accused, the then gynaecology department unit head at the TN Topiwala National Medical College and BYL Nair Hospital where Tadvi was studying in 2019.
