A formidable team of experts from diverse fields helped repatriate the bronzes after they were smuggled abroad. On February 17, 1988, Justice Ian Kennedy of a London court, awarding the idol to Tamil Nadu, praised R. Nagaswamy, who testified in the case, as “an acknowledged expert in the field of Chola bronzes.” Then Director of the Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology, Nagaswamy was an epigraphist, iconographer, archaeologist, and scholar of Tamil and Sanskrit. 4 min readChandigarhMay 28, 2026 03:38 AM IST The Punjab Police Wednesday informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) was not cooperating in the investigation into the FIR pertaining to the missing 328 sacred saroops of the Guru Granth Sahib. The submission was made before Justice Vinod S Bhardwaj in a status report filed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Harminder Singh Sandhu who is also a member of the Special Investigation Team probing the alleged disappearance of the sacred saroops. In the report, it has been submitted that the investigating agency “has addressed more than 14 letters to the SGPC seeking relevant information and records”. “However, the SGPC has neither provided the requisite record nor cooperated with the investigating agency”. It was further submitted that SGPC was wilfully withholding vital records and information required for the investigation into the matter. Inaugurating the workshop, G. Madhukumar, secretary and correspondent of the L.B. Colleges, said teachers should adopt modern teaching practices by effectively using AI tools. He observed that AI had become an integral part of contemporary education and stressed the need for training teachers in the technology. K. Harshavardhan, chief executive officer of BotClub Private Limited, said AI would not replace teachers, but those who failed to use AI tools risked falling behind. The workshop was presided over by N. Chandrasekhar, course coordinator and honorary president of Jana Vignana Vedika, Visakhapatnam district. Deepak Choudhary, principal of Dr. L.B. Engineering College, and resource persons I.S.V.
