Delhi: Online hotel booking racket busted, four arrested | Delhi News

Four persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in an online hotel booking scam, police said on Friday. The accused allegedly duped scores of people through fake websites, they said. The arrests have brought under scanner over 100 counterfeit hotel websites. Police said that according to 132 complaints lodged across the country, people have been duped of a total of over Rs 1 crore. Police probe began after a complaint was filed by one Shashank Raizada, who reported being duped of Rs 68,000 while attempting to book a stay at JW Marriott in Chandigarh, in August this year. The victim had made the payment on what appeared to be a legitimate hotel website, only to discover later that the portal was fake. Acting on the complaint, an FIR was registered and an extensive interstate operation spanning Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttarakhand was launched, said police. The Jarcha police on Thursday arrested the key accused in the Sainthli double murder case that occurred earlier this month, bringing a major breakthrough in the investigation that had triggered protests from the victims’ families over the delay in arrests, police said on Friday. On the night of October 23, 2025, after holidaying in Hyderabad, Nelakurthy Ramesh, 30, boarded a bus bound for Bengaluru with his wife and two children.
