This is the second time Pooja has gone past her personal best this season after breaching the 1.90m mark at the Indian Athletics Series, New Delhi in April. With the mark of 1.93m, Pooja won the gold medal making it her second medal at the Asian U20 Championships. With this gold medal, she now holds both senior and junior titles at the continental level. She also breached the Commonwealth Games qualification mark set by Athletics Federation of India. Two people were trampled to death by a elephants in in Jharkhand’s Koderma district on Wednesday. The incidents took place in brick kiln unit areas around 2 am. The owner of one kiln was informed about the elephants but didn’t convey it to his workers, resulting in the death on a 40-year-old man.  In the second incident, the owner asked his workers to leave, but a 12-year-old boy remained asleep and was killed. Kerala: 12-year-old girl killed in lightning strike in Idukki

A 12-year-old girl died after being struck by lightning at Uruvapara, police said on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Nafeesathul Misriya, daughter of Afsal, a native of Cheruvelikkunnu near Perumbavoor in Ernakulam district. According to the police, Misriya and her family reached Uruvapara to attend `Summerfest`, a tourism event, on Friday evening. Police said that lightning struck Misriya. Apart from Misriya, two others were also injured in the incident. Though Misriya was rushed to a nearby private hospital, she was declared dead, police said. The injured persons are currently admitted to a private hospital in Thodupuzha. Thodupuzha police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation. The boy, a resident of Bhiwandi, was bitten by a dog on January 10, after which his family rushed him to the state-run IGM Hospital in the area.
