2 min readMumbaiApr 1, 2026 08:38 PM IST Amid the ongoing LPG crisis in the city, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has eased norms for Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) to facilitate PNG pipeline connections. From granting clearances to permitting 24×7 work, the civic body has directed ward offices to fast-track PNG connections till June 30. In a circular issued on March 30, the BMC has said that all pending applications from MGL, which provides PNG in Mumbai jurisdiction, will now be deemed “approved”, directing ward offices to permit work while also calling them to issue permits for new applications within 24 hours. To ensure faster access to PNG supply, the civic body has permitted MGL to work 24×7 till June 30.“The condition of obtaining NOC from CFO and Traffic Police is temporarily relaxed and work can be carried out by intimating work schedule daily to the CFO and Traffic Police,” reads the circular issued by the municipal commissioner. The district administration on Tuesday set up a dedicated 24×7 control room at the Mini Secretariat to swiftly address complaints related to LPG, curb black marketing, hoarding and illegal diversion of domestic gas cylinders, officials said. The control room at Mini Secretariat will handle LPG complaints. Authorities said strict action will be taken on verified cases of black marketing and diversion. (PTI) Officials said the control room will have a helpline number, 0124-2868930 where citizens can lodge their complaints related to the LPG supply. Deputy commissioner Ajay Kumar told HT that the administration has intensified enforcement measures to maintain transparency and ensure uninterrupted supply of LPG to consumers. “Strict monitoring and enforcement drives are being carried out by the food, civil supplies and consumer affairs department to prevent any inconvenience to the public and to ensure a smooth and fair distribution,” he said. Over 600 establishments have been granted exemptions in the last one year (Representational) New Delhi: Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena has approved exemptions to 32 commercial establishments to allow them to function round the clock through the year, Raj Niwas officials said on Sunday. The establishments deal in Logistics and Courier Services, hotels and restaurants, retail trade, storage management services, Ayurveda and food items among others. These include Godfrey Phillips India Ltd., Organic India Pvt. Ltd. And Bikanerwala International, they added. The exemptions have been granted under sections 14, 15 and 16 of the Delhi Shops & Establishment Act, 1954. Out of the 32 approvals, seven have been granted to establishments that had applied for exemption for their women employees during night times. The exemptions have been given with foolproof assurances about the safety of employees by the establishments, the officials said. A total of 52 online applications were received in Labour Department up to December 21, 2023, out of which 20 were incomplete/ duplicate/deficient in certain respects and have been temporarily kept on hold …
