40-year-old woman dies, two from her family injured in Rajkot house collapse | Ahmedabad News

A 40-year-old woman died and two other members of the family were injured when their house in Gondal town of Rural Rajkot collapsed on Thursday morning, said police. The police identified the deceased as Usha Sunil Vardhani. According to the officials, Vardhani lost her life when the two-storeyed home collapsed on the family around 7 am on Thursday. Officials at Gondal B Division police station said that an accidental death report has been filed in the matter. The house, located at Sahajanand Nagar, was under renovation when it collapsed on its occupants, said the police. According to the police, Nitin Edwin Michael (40), who worked as a senior analyst, was found unresponsive after he entered the washroom of the office of HCL Technologies Ltd. in the city’s Mihan area around 7 pm on Friday. His colleagues rushed him to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Nagpur where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival, said the official from Sonegaon police station on Sunday. A 40-year-old man was arrested for killing his wife over a domestic issue on Saturday, said police. The accused, Shravan Raut, lived with his 35-year-old wife Sapna Raut and two daughters and a son in Patel Wadi, Malwani, said police. According to police, Raut and Sapna had been fighting for the past two days over domestic issues. Police said around 11:45am on Saturday, during one such fight over a dometic issue, Raut allegedly slashed Sapna’s neck with a knife. The commotion alerted neighbors, who rushed Sapna in an autorickshaw to the local general hospital, where she died. The neighbors also nabbed Raut and handed him over to police beat marshals. Additional DCP (Greater Noida) Ashok Kumar Sharma said the incident took place at Kondli Bangar village, under Knowledge Park police station limits. “Local resident Ravindra Chauhan approached the police today and informed about his brother’s murder. He has given a complaint, raising suspicion over involvement of some people from his village in the murder,” Sharma said. “An FIR has been lodged against the named persons and an investigation launched into the case.
