Jio True 5G Services Now Launched in Uttarakhand, Rs. 650 Crore Invested for Standalone 5G Network in the State

Reliance Jio on Wednesday announced the launch of its True 5G services in Uttarakhand from Dehradun. On the occasion, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in a video message congratulated Jio, the people of Uttarakhand and the people of Dehradun in particular, at the launch of Jio True 5G services. Apart from the existing investment of Rs. 4,950 crore, a company’s spokesperson said Jio would additionally invest over Rs. 650 crore on the deployment of a standalone 5G network in Uttarakhand. Standalone 5G uses the 5G New Radio (NR) access network which is a set of standards that replaces the LTE network 4G wireless communications standard. The company said Jio True 5G was rolling out at a rapid pace and was the only 5G service to be present in Dehradun, delivering transformational benefits of this technology to Jio users. Jio 5G Services Rolled Out in Odisha; Bhubaneswar, Cuttack First to Get Support for Jio’s 5G Network

Jio on Thursday launched its 5G services in Odisha – starting with Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. “The temple city Bhubaneswar and silver city Cuttack will be the first cities to get Jio True 5G services starting today,” Reliance Jio said in a release. The launch was made in presence of Union Minister of Communications Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Minister of Education, and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan. Jio said the launch came at an apt time as the city gears up to host FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup later this month. At a special event in the state’s capital city Bhubaneswar, Jio created a unique True 5G experience zone and demonstrated the immersive benefits of 5G. India’s 5G smartphone shipments will exceed that of 4G shipments by the end of next year, driven by the mass adoption of the high-speed network and the rise in the sale of handsets in the lower-price bands, market research firm Counterpoint said on Thursday. Although India’s overall smartphone shipments are estimated to see a yearly decline this year due to component supply issues and macroeconomic factors, 5G will continue to push smartphone demand in 2023 as well, Counterpoint added. 5G data speed in India is expected to be about 10 times faster than that of 4G, with the network seen as vital for emerging technologies like self-driving cars and artificial intelligence. 5G handset share in the lower-price band (less than Rs. 20,000 rupees) is expected to surge to 30 percent in 2023 from 4 percent last year, Counterpoint said.
