Mumbai police have arrested a man who allegedly broke into a 64-year-old woman’s flat, killed her and stole her valuables in Bandra here, an official said on Tuesday. The police on Monday apprehended the accused, Shareef Ali Shamsher Ali Sheikh (27), for the murder that took place at Kanchan Co-operative Society on February 5, the official said. He said the incident came to light on Monday after the victim’s neighbour complained of a foul smell emanating from the apartment next door and alerted the police, who found the body. Telangana High Court closes 64-year-old civil suit over Maktha lands

Telangana High Court had closed a 64-year-old civil suit pertaining to lands of 24 Maktha properties, observing that submissions made by parties over the properties were unsustainable. A Bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar, which pronounced verdict in the civil suit, noted that “it can safely be concluded that no lands are available for partition” attached to the preliminary decree of 1959. The matter dates back to 1953 when Sultana Jahan Begum filed a civil suit for partition and separate possession of the Matruka properties in City Civil Court. It was transferred to High Court in 1958. Parties to the suit filed memorandum of compromise. Subsequently, a preliminary decree was passed in 1959. The Commissioners/Receivers effected partition of lands and filed their report in 1965. They categorically stated that the 25 properties were Maktha lands and they were subject matter of litigation in the Revenue department. New Delhi: The South District Police have apprehended a 25-year-old man, Abhay Sikarwar, in connection with the recent murder in Panchsheel Park, Malviya Nagar. The accused, originally from Madhya Pradesh, was arrested in Moti Nagar, where he had been working as a cook. The police tracked down the accused after an exhaustive investigation, which included the analysis of footage from over 500 CCTV cameras, electronic surveillance, and technical evidence. The victim, a 64-year-old man Rohit Kumar, was brutally murdered at his residence in Panchsheel Park on November 25. According to the police, the accused had previously worked as a domestic help on the third floor of the same building four years ago, which gave him a detailed understanding of the house’s layout. The police also mentioned that the accused was in desperation for money to pay off debts. On the night of the incident, Sikarwar entered the victim’s home late at night, intending to rob him.
