The BJP-led Delhi government has reduced the annual MLA Local Area Development (LAD) Fund from ₹15 crore to ₹5 crore, officials have said. Asserting that no new “mountain of garbage” would be created in Delhi, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Tuesday said the Bhalswa landfill, spread across 70 acre, will be cleared by next March. Sirsa was speaking to mediapersons at an event where Lieutenant Governor (L-G) V K Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta planted bamboo saplings in 5 of the 25 acre that has been reclaimed at the landfill site. “I would like to thank L-G V K Saxena for his efforts in clearing Delhi of all three mountains of garbage at Bhalswa, Okhla, and Ghazipur.
