Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant on Thursday had a narrow escape after the helicopter carrying him to Gadchiroli developed a technical problem shortly after take-off from Nagpur, forcing the pilot to abort the flight, reported the PTI. Samant later travelled to Gadchiroli by road. He said the pilot handled the situation properly and safely brought the helicopter back to the runway. Speaking to a television channel, Samant said he boarded the helicopter at Nagpur between 8.30 am and 8.45 am to travel to Gadchiroli. According to the minister, the pilot had informed him that the helicopter had recently undergone maintenance and that weather conditions were suitable for the flight, the news agency reported. However, after the engine was started and the helicopter took off, the pilot detected a technical problem and decided to abort the flight. Samant said that the helicopter was brought back to the runway and he safely disembarked, the news agency reported.
