The court also imposed a fine of ₹60,000 each under these three counts, and on default, they will undergo an additional two months of imprisonment under each count. The 27-year-old woman was at her mother’s residence in Malad when the accused, 34, allegedly threw acid on her on Wednesday morning. She suffered burns and facial injuries and is undergoing treatment at a hospital. The woman, who had a love marriage in 2019, was living with her mother for the last three months after finding out about her husband’s affair. She also discovered that he was unemployed and addicted to drugs. Police have registered a case against her husband under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 124(2) (throwing acid on a person with the intention of causing damage), 311 (robbery or dacoity with an attempt to cause grievous hurt or death), 333 (house-trespass after preparation for assault), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and the hunt is on to arrest the accused. A 16-year-old boy was detained Sunday for allegedly throwing caustic soda mixed in water at a girl in North Delhi’s Burari, the police said. The incident took place on Wednesday when the girl, a Class 11 student, was on her way to pick up her 10-year-old cousin from school when the boy came on foot and threw the chemical at her. Police said that the victim suffered injuries on her face, nose and neck and has been discharged after treatment. The girl’s family registered a police case on the same day under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections of 326b (acid attack) and 341 (wrongful restraint). As per the complainant, the girl was attacked by a stranger. According to the police, the boy did not know the girl, but expressed a general dislike for girls.
