On Monday multiple reports suggested Ranveer Singh has acquired the rights to Amish Tripathi’s The Immortals of Meluha under his production banner, Maa Kasam Film. The best selling novel and its two sequels chart the rise of a warrior from the Himalayas in the ancient kingdom of Meluha. The reports said that Ranveer has partnered with Birla Studios to develop the mythological epic as a grand-scale trilogy, adding that work on the film has begun and the film is expected to go on floors in 2028. In this regard, a Social Impact Assessment (SIA) notification has been issued on March 3. According to the notification, around 182.88 acres of land in the villages of Safipur, Landiali, Dharmgarh and Rurka will be acquired for the ambitious project. The acquisition will be carried out under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The proposed Expo City is aimed at boosting industrial, commercial and technological activities in Punjab. The project’s biggest highlight will be India’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tower, which will provide space for around 300 companies, potentially generating employment opportunities for thousands of youth. The celebrity couple has acquired over five acres of land for Rs 37.86 crore in Zira Village, located close to Awas Beach in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. According to property analytics firm CRE Matrix, the couple purchased two adjoining land parcels in the same area. One plot measures approximately 14,740 square metres, while the second spans 6,270 square metres. Together, the combined land area comes to 21,010 square metres, or roughly 5.2 acres. As per registration documents, in addition to the transaction value of Rs 37.86 crore, Anushka and Virat paid stamp duty amounting to Rs 2.27 crore. They also paid an additional Rs 30,000 as registration fees to complete the deal. Maharashtra: Delayed compensation for acquiring land to be paid at single interest rate | Mumbai News

Maharashtra Cabinet on Tuesday cleared the decision to introduce a Bill allowing interest amount on delayed compensation for land acquisition to be paid at a single rate, which will be one per cent higher than the repo rate for banks. The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 provides for the payment of interest at the rate of 12 per cent as per Section 30(3) and nine per cent and 15 per cent as per Section 72 and Section 80, in case of delay in payment of land acquisition compensation to the land owners. “However, this used to burden the government exchequer and increase the original cost of the projects. Now, by changing this interest rate, if there is a delay in paying the land acquisition compensation, interest will be paid on that amount at a single rate. The Pune police Wednesday launched a probe after a city-based aviation businessman received death threats and a ransom demand of Rs 5 crore over voice notes from Pakistan phone numbers. Initial investigation by the Crim Branch suggests that the suspects from India may have used caller ID spoofing to display Pakistan numbers to mislead the complainant. A First Information Report (FIR) in the case was registered at the Koregaon Park police station based on the complaint of the 37-year-old businessman who owns a firm in Pune that facilitates the chartering of helicopters and private aircraft. The case was filed under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) provisions pertaining to extortion and criminal intimidation.
