Former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Thursday received a grand welcome, with flower petals showered on his convoy using excavators, as he returned to his home district of Gonda for the first time after being acquitted in the sexual harassment case filed by wrestlers. Singh arrived at the international airport in Ayodhya by chartered aircraft, where supporters welcomed him with drums, music and slogans, reported PTI.  Thousands of supporters lined the route from the airport, while flower petals were showered on his convoy using excavators. Slogans of “Sher Aaya” (the lion has arrived) rang out, and fireworks were set off as hundreds of vehicles accompanied his convoy. The BJP leader is a former Lok Sabha MP from Gonda’s Kaisarganj constituency. In neighbouring Ayodhya, Singh travelled in an open jeep to the Hanumangarhi temple, where he offered prayers from outside and sought blessings from the seers. Hours after former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was acquitted by a Delhi court in the sexual harassment case filed by women wrestlers, Vinesh Phogat said that they’ll appeal against the decision. “The female wrestlers have instructed their lawyers to appeal this decision, and this will be done as soon as possible. We have not lost hope, and the wrestlers will continue their fight,” said Phogat in a social media post. (File image) A Special CBI Court in Raipur on Saturday reversed a magistrate court’s order that had discharged former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in the 2017 obscene video case linked to the alleged defamation of former cabinet minister and BJP leader Rajesh Munnat. The special court reversed the earlier magisterial order in the case of obscene video purportedly depicting Munnat, who was then serving as Public Works Department (PWD) minister in the Raman Singh-led Chhattisgarh government. In the same proceedings, the court also rejected the appeals filed by other accused—Kailash Murarka, Vinod Verma and Vijay Bhatia—who had challenged the trial court’s order framing of charges against them, sources said.
