In a revised travel advisory, the Indian Embassy in Tehran underlined that the “recent days have seen an increase in levels of instability and conflict in Iran”, necessitating heightened caution for Indian nationals. “Indian nationals intending to travel to Iran for any purpose should postpone travel for the time being, until the security environment improves,” the mission said. New Delhi, The Indian government has advised citizens to avoid non-essential travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo , Uganda and South Sudan in view of the Ebola outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo strain in parts of Africa. Govt advises citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Congo, Uganda and South Sudan The advisory comes after the World Health Organisation on May 17 declared the situation a Public Health Emergency of International Concern under the International Health Regulations , 2005. The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has also designated the outbreak affecting the DRC and Uganda as a Public Health Emergency of Continental Security. According to the advisory issued by the Indian government on Saturday, the WHO’s IHR Emergency Committee on May 22 issued temporary recommendations to strengthen disease surveillance at points of entry to “detect, assess, report and manage travellers with unexplained febrile illness arriving from areas with documented Bundibugyo virus detection” while discouraging travel to the affected regions. Justice Purushaindra Kaurav went on to direct AIIMS New Delhi to examine the 29-year-old woman and to clearly opine on the feasibility of termination of her pregnancy and its consequences. The married woman had approached the HC on May 1, seeking medical termination of her second pregnancy, submitting that continuing the pregnancy carries a risk of sudden death of the foetus in the womb, as the foetus has been detected with abnormalities, endangering her physical and mental health. Hearing a suo motu petition seeking the creation of 9,149 additional courts across Uttar Pradesh, the Allahabad High Court expressed serious concern over the pendency of litigation in courts. Calling for a swift solution, the court suggested that the Parliament and state legislatures hold a litigation impact assessment before passing new laws in the legislature. Taking note, a division bench of Justices Alok Mathur and Amitabh Kumar Rai observed in its April 13 order, “…right of speedy trial is a mandate given by the Constitution of India to all its citizens in fulfillment of which the judiciary, executive and legislature are duty-bound to do all that is necessary.
