Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari’s defamation suit against Meta, X Corp, Google LLC, and unidentified persons over allegedly defamatory deepfake videos and AI-generated social media posts related to the Centre’s ethanol policy will be heard by the Bombay High Court on August 5. Hearing the matter on Tuesday, Justice Arif Doctor directed Gadkari’s counsel, Sandeep Ladda, to serve copies of the civil suit on all respondents. The suit seeks a permanent injunction against the circulation of content that the minister claims has damaged his reputation.
