Steve Harmison says India coach’s ‘milestone’ message was aimed at Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli

3 min readMar 10, 2026 07:25 PM IST Former England fast bowler Steve Harmison said he believed India head coach Gautam Gambhir’s remarks on milestones during the post-match press conference after India won the T20 World Cup 2026 in Ahmedabad were directed towards veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Harmison, with his usual sarcasm, said that he liked Gambhir’s dig at Rohit and Virat, and while he sometimes struggled with Gambhir as a player and a coach, he liked the shots being fired. “I enjoyed that from Gambhir. I thought it was a little dig at Rohit and Virat, talking about not being interested in milestones and only about the team winning… I like that. I sometimes struggle with Gautam. I did struggle with Gautam as a player and I did struggle with him as a coach. But I liked that little dig at Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli,” said Harmison, speaking on the talkSPORT YouTube channel. “We might have everything going in our favour, but it’s about the team. ‘If he wants to say something to me, he can come to wherever he wants’: Lisandro Martinez slams Paul Scholes for comments aimed at him ahead of Manchester derby | Football News

Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez hit back at pundits which included Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt who had predicted that the Argentinian defender’s diminutive stature would lead to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland manhandling him in the derby on Saturday. That wasn’t the case on the day of the match as Martinez expertly marshalled Haaland with the City attacker failing to score as United went on to win the match 2-0. Scholes, a United legend in his own right, had taken a dig at Martinez ahead of the derby, saying Haaland would “throw him in the net” after scoring while Butt had said that the Norweigian striker would “pick Martinez up and run with him” and treat him like a “little toddler.” The comments were made on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast. “Honestly, he can say whatever he wants. I told him already, if he wants to say something to me, he can come to wherever he wants. To my house, wherever. I don’t care,” Martinez said as per BBC. “And I think for …

India on Saturday decided to allow entry of ready-made garments from Bangladesh only through Kolkata and Nhava Sheva seaports and barred imports of a range of consumer items through land transit posts in the Northeast. New Delhi: India, in a latest move, decided to curb Bangladeshi exports of ready-made garments and several other consumer goods through land ports. The move is aimed at ensuring fairness and equality in bilateral trade, according to government sources. The latest step by New Delhi sends a signal to Dhaka that it should not assume the Northeast as a captive market for its exports, and it cannot cherry-pick terms of bilateral trade solely for its benefit. India seeks to achieve the following objectives: Equal Market Access: Land port restrictions imposed by India on select exports from Bangladesh to the Northeast are expected to restore equality in the relationship. While India had hitherto allowed all exports from Bangladesh without restrictions, the transit and market access to the Northeast had been restricted by Bangladesh. Javed Akhtar recalls Yash Chopra, ‘messiah of the poor’ Mahesh Bhatt opposing Copyright Act aimed at ending exploitation of creatives; says producers boycotted him | Bollywood News

Javed Akhtar is known as one of India’s most prolific screenwriters, lyricists, and poets. While he is celebrated for his many creative roles, not many know that he also played a pivotal part in the passing of the Copyright (Amendment) Act in 2012. The Act, which was passed in both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, safeguarded the rights of writers, lyricists, music composers, actors, authors, and other creative professionals. In a recent interaction with Mid-Day, Javed Akhtar recalled how he got involved in the battle for copyright reform. During the conversation, Javed recalled that it all began when the Indian Performing Right Society (IPRS) approached him to become the head of the non-profit organisation. He admitted that before this, he didn’t know about publishing rights. “I had know idea publishing ka matlab kya hai. When I would sign contracts, they would take all the rights; I was not aware of that,” he said. “Music directors came to my house and said, ‘We are being badly exploited. Gautam Gambhir Blasts Critics: “Won’t Become NRI To Save Tax”. Report Says Jibe Aimed At 2 Ex-India Captains From…

Those living in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones at others.” India head coach Gautam Gambhir hardly pulled back punches as he responded to criticism from a couple of former Test stars, accusing them of treating Indian cricket as their “personal fiefdom”. While Gambhir didn’t take names, he dropped enough hints to make it obvious that the target of his outburst were two former India skippers from Mumbai, who have been critical of him since his playing days. “I am into this job for eight months. If results don’t come, I am absolutely fine with criticism. It is people’s job to criticise. There are people who are sitting in the commentary box for 25 years and feel that Indian cricket is their personal fiefdom,” Gambhir said at ABP News‘ ‘India At 2047’ Summit. “Unfortunately, Indian cricket’s no one’s personal property and it belongs to 140 crore Indians,” he asserted. “These people have raised questions about my coaching, my records, concussions (when he left 2011 Tour of England after a head injury), to distribution of …
