Police said the scene was chaotic in the north-eastern Ohio as some people escaped from the scene and first responders performed life-saving measures, The Guardian reported. The Bath Township Police Department said that during the early hours on Sunday, the community experienced a “tragic and senseless act of violence” during a birthday party taking place about 15 miles (24 km) north-west of Akron. Airbnb will now display how much you’ll pay for a stay – cleaning fees and all – as soon as you start your search. The update, which is rolling out globally, means you’ll see the total cost of a reservation (excluding taxes) before you reach the checkout page. The company first started showing the full price of its listings in some locations in 2019 after facing scrutiny from the European Union over how it displays its fees. It later launched a toggle in the US and hundreds of other countries that shows the total cost of a stay across Airbnb’s search results, individual listings pages, and other areas of the platform. Airbnb says nearly 17 million people have used the toggle since its launch in 2022, and now, you won’t have to worry about turning the option on when making a search. However, people have complained on social media about finding seemingly hidden cameras in Airbnb lodgings, some of them in areas where privacy is expected. “Airbnb is banning the use of indoor security cameras in listings globally as part of efforts to simplify our policy on security cameras and other devices and to continue to prioritize the privacy of our community,” the San Francisco-based company said in a blog post. Airbnb will no longer allow hosts to use indoor security cameras, regardless of where they’re placed or what they’re used for. In an update on Monday, Airbnb says the change to “prioritize the privacy” of renters goes into effect on April 30th. The vacation rental app previously let hosts install security cameras in “common areas” of listings, including hallways, living rooms, and front doors. Airbnb required hosts to disclose the presence of security cameras in their listings and make them clearly visible, and it prohibited hosts from using cameras in bedrooms and bathrooms. Airbnb’s new policy also introduces new rules for outdoor security cameras, and will now require hosts to disclose their use and locations before guests book a listing. Hosts can’t use outdoor cams to keep tabs on indoor spaces, either, nor can they use them in “certain outdoor areas where there’s a great expectation of privacy,” such as an outdoor shower or sauna.
