New Delhi: Congress leader Alka Lamba has shared her memories from 30 years ago with Delhi Chief Minister-elect Rekha Gupta, who is set to take the oath of office at a grand ceremony today. The two leaders – one from BJP and the other from Congress – had worked alongside each other for a year in 1995. Ms Lamba won the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections in 1995 and became its president from the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and Ms Gupta was elected as general secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in the same year. “When it was announced that Rekha Gupta will become the Chief Minister of Delhi, I went back 30 years. I remembered how we took the oath together. We spent one year working together…She was from ABVP, I was from NSUI. We had major ideological fights. New Delhi: As the stage is set for the swearing-in ceremony of Rekha Gupta as the new Chief Minister of Delhi, a three-decade-old photo of her taking oath at another event is doing the rounds on social media. The photo, shared on X by Congress leader Alka Lamba, shows the two leaders taking oath together as office bearers of Delhi University Students Union (DUSU). Sources indicated that Congress is likely to include a promise of Rs 3,000 per month for women and 400 units of free electricity in its manifesto. Incidentally, former AAP MLAs Asif Ahmad Khan and Devinder Sehrawat joined the Congress on Monday.
