Ranya Rao gold smuggling case: Accusing that she was beaten up and forced to sign 50 to 60 typed pages and around 40 blank pages, the Kannada actor said that she was also not allowed to sleep. Kannada actor Ranya Rao who has been lodged in a jail since she was arrested in a gold smuggling case, wrote a letter to the Additional Director General of DRI alleging that she has been a victim of custodial torture. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Tamil Nadu government, led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, of orchestrating a ₹1,000-crore liquor scam through the state-run Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC). The BJP claimed that the ongoing Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids have exposed large-scale financial irregularities, while the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has dismissed the allegations as baseless. A 40-year-old man drinking liquor with his friends at the Siklodhi village here was found dead with an injury on his forehead, with police suspecting that he might have rammed his head to an electricity pole in an intoxicated state, leading to his death. Police said the real cause of the death will be known after the post-mortem report arrives.(Representational image) Banda’s Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shiv Raj Friday said the body of Chunbad Singh was found near an electricity pole on Thursday night. In a post on X, Dr. Anbumani alleged that Indane, Bharatgas, and Hindustan Petroleum Gas, when contacted through their toll-free numbers, were providing customer care services only in Hindi. “Answers to customer queries are provided only in Hindi, despite the opportunity to provide services in Tamil, English, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. When a customer wants to talk only in Tamil, the phone call is abruptly disconnected saying the service provider will call back. This is a deliberate attempt to impose Hindi and is unacceptable.” He said the oil marketing companies that provide services in Tamil Nadu should offer their customer care services in Tamil. Bhopal: A hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam witnessed unprecedented scenes when a patient walked out onto the road with a catheter and breathing tube still attached to him and accused the authorities of the institution of carrying out a fraud. The man, Bunty Nimama, alleged that his hands and legs were tied to a bed at the GD Hospital and his family was told he was in a coma so that they would continue to purchase expensive medicines and pay for his treatment. Authorities at the hospital, however, released CCTV footage and claimed that Mr Ninama had created a ruckus inside the ICU and verbally abused doctors.
