Three arrested in 2-BHK housing allotment scam in Hyderabad’s Alwal; 79 forged certificates seized

Alwal police producing three accused in the case during a press meet in Hyderabad. Three persons were arrested by Alwal police for cheating nearly 100 families by promising them government 2-BHK houses and issuing forged allotment certificates. As many as 79 fake documents and three mobile phones used in the fraud were seized. The accused were identified as Timmiri Gopinath Pushpalatha, 54, a resident of Trimulgherry, her son Timmiri Gopinath Vishal, 21, and Mahender Singh, 45, proprietor of Radhaswamy photocopy centre in Trimulgherry. All three were apprehended on June 24. According to police, the accused collected between ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh from victims by falsely claiming they could secure allotments under the government’s 2-BHK housing scheme. Investigators said Pushpalatha was projected as a senior GHMC official capable of facilitating house allotments, leading victims to believe the claims. To convince applicants, the accused supplied forged government allotment certificates, creating the impression that houses had already been sanctioned. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an advisory on the allotment of examination cities for candidates registered from Kuwait, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2026 Session 2, amid the ongoing West Asia conflict. NTA issues advisory for Gulf candidates. (Representative photo) The advisory dated March 26 said that city intimation slips for candidates in Kuwait and Dubai have been released, while arrangements for candidates in Bahrain are still being finalised in coordination with the Embassy of India in Bahrain. Deputy Chief Minister M. Bhatti Vikramarka, who handles the portfolios of Energy and Finance, will officially launch the mine on April 16. Bengaluru: A special court in Bengaluru has deferred its decision on the Enforcement Directorate’s petition challenging the “B report” of Lokayukta in the MUDA land case, in which Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been named. The court said it would not give a decision on the petition until the final report of the Lokayukta Police is filed. Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhat has directed the Lokayukta Police to continue the investigation and submit the final report. In the “B Report”, the Lokayukta Police had given a clean chit to the Chief Minister, his wife Parvati, wife’s brother and the land seller due to lack of evidence. The ED, however, has challenged the report and demanded a deeper probe. The Lokayukta is already investigating more than 130 other people connected to the alleged scam.  Earlier, the Lokayukta police had submitted an initial report after looking into the allegations against Siddaramaiah and three others. But the court said the investigation should not be limited to just four individuals and asked the police to investigate everyone connected to the case and …

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu on Friday announced the cancellation of permissions granted to Mumtaz Hotels, a subsidiary of Oberoi Group, for the construction of hotels near Tirumala hills, at Alipiri in Tirupati district. The decision came in the wake of large scale protests from Hindu groups and seers of various Hindu religious institutions. Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu along with his family members serves ‘Anna Prasadam’ to devotees at Vengamamba in Tirumala.
