Farmers group demands cancellation of land allotted to TDP office at Noonepalle Market Yard in Nandyal

Farmer and civil society organisations on Friday (June 26, 2026) demanded the cancellation of the allotment of two acres in the Noonepalle Market Yard for the construction of a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) office and called for the protection of the Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS) in Nandyal from non-agricultural use. The demand was made at a programme organised by the Rayalaseema Irrigation Protection Committee, where leaders unveiled a motivational song titled “society is the temple…people are the God,” written and composed by the committee president Bojja Dasaratha Ramireddy. Speaking on the occasion, leaders stated that the government has a responsibility to safeguard and strengthen public institutions established for farmers’ welfare, rural development, and agricultural research. They expressed concern over the allotment of valuable land in the Noonepalle Market Yard, which they believe should instead be used to expand storage, marketing, banking, and other services for farmers. They also opposed the continued functioning of the temporary Collectorate office within the premises of the Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS) in Nandyal. In a letter dated May 23, written to the Land and Development Office (L&DO), the Club’s officiating secretary, Rajesh Bhatnagar, requested that the timeline for vacating the premises be reconsidered and sought an urgent meeting with officials from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. In the letter, the Club said that there should be “no dislocation of the Club and its operations” until certain issues are clarified. These include whether the government is considering allotting an “appropriately located alternate plot of land” for relocation and recognition of the Club’s expenditure over decades on improving infrastructure and facilities …

3 min readGurgaonMar 20, 2026 02:57 AM IST Gurgaon spent only 35% of the budget allotted in the current fiscal for door-to-door collection, transportation and processing the municipal solid waste generated daily, according to the data submitted by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) in the House on Wednesday as the civic body tabled the 2026-27 Budget. In the 2026-27 Budget, the civic body has allocated Rs 250 crore under this head, slashed by nearly 20% compared to Rs 310.68 crore allocated last year. While presenting the Budget, the civic body — citing detailed estimates — admitted that only Rs 119.76 crore is projected to be utilised by the end of the current fiscal. Ad-hoc arrangements with vendors with tender for waste collection and processing taking time to shape up remained a key challenge last year after the MCG terminated the services of the previous agency in charge for non-performance in June 2024.
