Shafali Verma’s all-round show, Smriti Mandhana’s 74 and Shree Charani 4/19 give India big win

Shafali Verma’s all-round show, Smriti Mandhana’s 74 and Shree Charani 4/19 give India big win

India made it two wins from two at the 2026 T20 World Cup with a comfortable 95-run victory over the Netherlands at Headingley on Wednesday. But the win was overshadowed a bit by an injury to off-spinner Shreyanka Patil, who twisted her right ankle after delivering the first ball of her spell in the sixth over. Unable to put weight on the leg, she received lengthy treatment before being stretchered off in a buggy. Before the setback, though, Harmanpreet Kaur had said her side had to improve their powerplay performances with both bat and ball. The team responded emphatically. The opening duo of Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma answered the call by putting on a 115-run opening stand. Mandhana set the tone from the outset, producing a series of trademark cover drives whenever the Dutch seamers overpitched. Heather Siegers, Iris Zwilling and Isabel van der Woning all struggled to find consistent lengths. The left-hander capitalised on the loose deliveries. Shafali initially played second fiddle before finding her rhythm. Once she settled, the right-hander punished anything …

All-round India-A beat Afghanistan-A to enter Tri-series final

All-round India-A beat Afghanistan-A to enter Tri-series final

4 min readChennaiJun 17, 2026 08:06 PM IST A strong batting effort and left-arm spinner Nishant Sindhu’s four-wicket haul put India A in the final of the tri-series in Dambulla. India have four points and though Afghanistan can match that by beating Sri Lanka in their final league game, courtesy India’s 101-run win on Wednesday — the net run-rate has gone up to 0.597 — making it impossible to better. In all likelihood, India A will face Sri Lanka A in the final on Sunday. In a must-win fixture against Afghanistan A on Wednesday, India were once again made to bat first and half-centuries from Priyansh Arya (58), Tilak Varma (59) and Kumar Kushagra (58) powered them to 319/9. And like in the previous fixture between the two teams, despite the steep target, Afghanistan went for it before losing their way in the middle as India’s spinners took control of the game. India bowlers responded well in trying circumstances like they have done right through the tournament. But the difference being it happened in the …

Patidar leads from front as all-round show takes RCB to 2nd successive IPL final

Patidar leads from front as all-round show takes RCB to 2nd successive IPL final

Royal Challengers Bengaluru get within one game of defending title as skipper Rajat Patidar’s 33-ball unbeaten 93 blows away Gujarat Titans In Virat Kohli’s career, 18.4 triggers memories of one shot – that off Pakistan’s Haris Rauf in Melbourne during the 2022 T20 World Cup. At Dharamshala, there was one shot that made Kohli jump off his chair in the dugout, with his jaws on the floor as he covered his mouth in disbelief at what he had witnessed. Kagiso Rabada, among the bowlers of the tournament, had already endured a costly first spell (39 runs conceded in three overs) when he returned for his last in the 17th over. A back-of-length delivery, that has troubled most batsmen, should have bothered Rajat Patidar too. But the RCB skipper picked the length early, stood on his toes and the bat swing did the rest – sending the ball over covers for a six. 16.4 will be Patidar’s ‘Hang in the Louvre’. It was the highlight of an incredible T20 innings that took Patidar to an unbeaten …

All-round Archer takes RR to playoffs

All-round Archer takes RR to playoffs

Mumbai: Having created some of the most spectacular moments with the new ball in a season dominated by batters, Jofra Archer wasn’t going to loosen his hold in a tie Rajasthan Royals had to win. Archer was at his fiery best and Mumbai Indians simply succumbed to his powers at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Rajasthan Royals’ Jofra Archer in action against Mumbai Indians. (AP) Archer’s all-round brilliance consisting of a crucial late-overs batting cameo, an outstanding three-over spell in the Powerplay, and a return to dismiss the rampaging Hardik Pandya for 34 (15b) at the back end of RR’s defence of 205 ruined any chances the eliminated hosts may have had to end their season on a high. The match was being played in front of 20,000 less privileged children in MI’s annual Education and Sports for All initiative. The Royals’ 30-run win in their final league game lifted them up to 16 points in the table, handing them the fourth playoff place. It dashed the playoffs hopes of Punjab Kings (15 points) and …

Fuel price surge jolts Kerala as people brace for all-round price rise

Image used for representation purpose only. | Photo Credit: The Hindu For Keralites, the elation of finally getting a Chief Minister after a ten-day long sordid drama was tempered by the jolt of a fuel price hike announced by State-owned oil companies, which came into effect on Friday (May 15, 2026) at 6 a.m. In Ernakulam and surrounding regions, diesel prices rose by ₹3.26 and petrol by ₹3.16, with a further revision not ruled out within a fortnight. Anticipating the hike, many vehicle owners had filled their tanks the previous night. Petrol and diesel prices hike LIVE “There is no shortage of fuel stock at petrol pumps at the moment. However, oil companies no longer insist on maintaining the mandatory three-day stock, which has now been relaxed to two days,” said Tomy Thomas, president of the All Kerala Federation of Petroleum Traders. Oil companies have also largely withdrawn the credit facility offered to petroleum dealers. Indian Oil Corporation appears more lenient, allowing dealers to pay for a load already delivered before receiving the next within …

Delhi Capitals’ all-round hero Madhav Tiwari

4 min readMay 12, 2026 02:10 PM IST In just his second IPL match and his first of this season, 22-year-old Madhav Tiwari picked up two wickets, including those of Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly. He then played an eight-ball cameo of 18 runs at the end to guide Delhi Capitals to a three-wicket win over Punjab Kings at Dharamshala on Monday night. Tiwari’s all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match award. When asked whether he considers himself more of a batter or a bowler, Tiwari said he sees himself as both equally. “I would like to say I am a 100 percent bowler and 100 percent batsman,” Tiwari said in the post-match presentation. Tiwari, who is yet to play for the Madhya Pradesh senior side but has featured in the MP T20 league and the U19 and U23 teams, was picked up by Delhi Capitals for Rs 40 lakh in the 2024 IPL mega auction. Ayush Shetty scores his biggest win over World No 4 Jonatan Christie – an all-round 23-21, 21-17 brilliance

Ayush Shetty scores his biggest win over World No 4 Jonatan Christie – an all-round 23-21, 21-17 brilliance

5 min readUpdated: Apr 10, 2026 12:55 PM IST Jonatan Christie just couldn’t shake off Ayush Shetty. It’s one thing to have an annoying little bee buzzing in your ear, but quite another for an elephant to be stomping his feet all around you, like the 6-foot-4 Ayush with the persistence of a pecking bird did. The World No 4 from Indonesia was brought down, one rally at a time, as the 25th ranked Indian reached the semifinals of his first Badminton Asia Championship 23-21, 21-17 at Ningbo, China. Ayush trailed Jojo Christie right until 18-18 in the opening set. But every time, the 28-year-old former Asian Games champion compiled a 3-point lead, Ayush would start snapping at his heels and never stop pursuing. What makes the tall Mangalorean, still only 20 the biggest talent for the future – and the future is here clearly – is how he easily erased three set points, to sneak in a 23-21 first set lead. His bulking smashes nearly saw him through the second – in much the …

South Africa vs New Zealand: Captaincy, all-round abilities not only traits that tie Aiden Markram and Mitchell Santner together | Cricket News

Two captains, who are as much as passionate about the swing of the golf club as shaping legacies on a cricket pitch, will meet at the Eden Gardens for a spot in the final. Aiden Markram, a recreational golfer since he was a child, boasts a handicap of 7.6; Mitchell Santner, a more serious one, flaunts 3.4. Like the treacherous fairways and wickedly sloping greens, the paths they traversed on a cricketing field have seen deep roughs, trees shot and fearsome bunkers. But here, they are two games away from the ultimate prize, or to borrow from golf’s lexicon, wearing the green jacket. Their brand of leadership is similar. Both retreat to the background; they are one among the men, shirking from the limelight and deflecting praise towards their teammates. Santner has played under all great modern-day leaders of his country, from the hyper-aggressive Brendon McCullum to the understatedly pragmatic Kane Williamson. Yet, he has forged an identity of his own, with elements from both his lofty predecessors. Santner’s men are attacking yet pragmatic, assertive …

All-Round Masterclass from Will Jacks Powers England Past New Zealand

An all-rounder performance from Will Jacks set up England’s 4-wicket victory against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2026 game played on February 27 at Colombo. His 2-wicket haul and 32* run knock guided England to go past New Zealand in Friday’s clash and will be topping the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 group 2 points table. This win leaves Pakistan with another shot at making their qualification for the semifinals. After choosing to bat first, New Zealand’s Tim Seifert and Finn Allen opened the innings while Jofra Archer opened the bowling attack. The duo made a decent knock, adding 54 runs to the scoreboard in the powerplay. Adil Rashid got the first breakthrough, dismissing Tim Seifert for 35 runs. Soon, New Zealand lost their second wicket, dismissing Finn Allen for 29 runs. With Rachin Ravindra‘s dismissal for 11 runs, New Zealand went on to lose three wickets for 97 runs. New Zealand went on to crumble as they went on to lose wickets at regular intervals. Adil Rashid bagged his second wicket by …

A.P. budget this year shifted gears towards all-round progress: Finance Minister Keshav

Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav presents the State Budget for the financial year 2026–27 in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in Amaravati. File photo: Special Arrangement. Blaming YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) for the financial crisis that crippled the State, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav said that the public debt stood at nearly ₹1.20 lakh crore even after 20 months of the coalition government’s formation. The TDP-led government inherited a mammoth debt of approximately ₹9.74 lakh crore from the YSRCP dispensation in June 2024.  It had since been a daily struggle for the Finance Department to run the show with meagre revenues on the one hand and a mountain of debt on the other, but the situation improved significantly as the State’s efforts were complemented by the Central support. However, much more remained to be done as the YSRCP government’s policies had a lasting impact, he observed, while cautioning the people against voting for the YSRCP again.  Giving his reply to the general discussion on Budget 2026-27 in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday, Mr. Keshav said …
