After alliance move falls through, 12 suspended Congress councillors in Ambernath join BJP | Mumbai News
The BJP’s decision to open doors to suspended Congress councillors came shortly after CM Devendra Fadnavis announced on Wednesday that the party will not have an alliance with traditional rival Congress in Ambernath. Fadnavis went on to emphasise that if the local unit in Ambernath has struck an alliance with Congress, it will have to break it as it cannot be acceptable to the party and its leadership. While the BJP broke its formal alliance with the Congress, the state Congress suspended its 12 newly elected councillors. However, all 12 suspended Congress councillors joined the BJP in the presence of Chavan and BJP minister Ganesh Naik on Thursday. Chavan said, “The BJP welcomed suspended Congress councillors who approached us.
