Anti-snake venoms to be available in 108 ambulances in A.P.

The decision has been taken in view of rising emergency calls for snakebite cases, says Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav. | Photo Credit: FIle Photo Anti-snake venoms (ASV) will now be available in 108 ambulances across Andhra Pradesh to ensure immediate and pre-hospital treatments of the patients for snakebite victims. In a statement on Saturday, Minister for Health, Medical and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav said that the decision had been taken in view of the rising emergency calls for snakebite cases. From June 2025 to date, 3,104 snakebite emergency calls have been received, the statement said. Snakebite patients need to be taken to a hospital immediately, as the effects of the venom may increase and the patient may become critical. To address this problem, the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) working in an ambulance has been directed to administer anti-snake venoms to patients in need after consulting a doctor. Madhya Pradesh’s PM (Prime Minister) Shri Air Ambulance Service launched in May 2024 has benefited 159 patients; 32 of them are either leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party or their friends or relatives. In all, the state has spent ₹36 crore on the service till July 7, according to the health department (In picture: Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav) (@DrMohanYadav51) Of the 159, only 13 have paid for the service — those without an Ayushman card and being flown to a hospital outside the state have to pay for it according to the contours of the scheme — including a BJP leader and his relatives/friends. The scheme comes under the health department and health minister Rajendra Shukla said people haven’t paid for the service because the government sometimes pays on humanitarian grounds. Guwahati: In a step towards enhancing safety and emergency response, energy major Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has ramped up its fleet of ambulances in Assam by adding 65 new vehicles, an official said on Friday. The ambulances, which are fitted with ventilators, will be deployed by the Health and Family Welfare Department across Karnataka in the coming days. “The ambulances will help in rushing accident victims to hospitals within the golden hour.
