Mark Zuckerberg Fooling Americans, Is “Hand In Glove” With China: Meta Whistleblower

A former Meta executive, Sarah Wynn-Williams, has come forward as a whistleblower, accusing the company of compromising US national security to establish a substantial business presence in China. According to Wynn-Williams, Meta executives made decisions that allowed the Chinese Communist Party to access user data, including that of Americans. This testimony was given during a congressional hearing led by Senator Josh Hawley, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism. “I saw Meta executives repeatedly undermine U.S. national security and betray American values,” Wynn-Williams said in her opening remarks per CBS News. Donald Trump To Americans Amid Tariff War

Washington: US President Donald Trump on Saturday doubled down on the sweeping tariffs he unleashed on countries around the world, warning Americans of pain ahead, but promising historic investment and prosperity. The comments came as Trump’s widest-ranging tariffs took effect in a move that could trigger retaliation and escalating trade tensions that could upset the global economy. “We have been the dumb and helpless ‘whipping post,’ but not any longer. We are bringing back jobs and businesses like never before,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “This is an economic revolution, and we will win,” he added. “Hang tough, it won’t be easy, but the end result will be historic.” A 10 percent “baseline” tariff came into place just after midnight, hitting most US imports except goods from Mexico and Canada as Trump invoked emergency economic powers to address perceived problems with the country’s trade deficits. The trade gaps, said the White House, were driven by an “absence of reciprocity” in relationships and other policies like “exorbitant value-added taxes.” Come April 9, around 60 …

How Donald Trump’s Tariff War Could Leave Millions Of Americans Without Toilet Paper

Ottawa: US President Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs on Canada could trigger an unexpected crisis in America, leading to panic-buying seen at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. The Trump administration’s plan to almost double duties on Canadian softwood lumber could disrupt the supply chain for something nobody wants to be caught without– toilet paper. Trump has promised to hike duties on softwood lumber to 27 per cent as soon as April 2, with the possibility of additional levies pushing the rate to more than 50 per cent. The move could hit the availability of northern bleached softwood kraft pulp (NBSK), a material derived from wood chips that is used to make toilet paper and paper towels, according to a report by Bloomberg.  NBSK is prized for its tensile strength and constitutes about 30 per cent of standard US bathroom tissue and half of a typical paper towel.  Last year, the US imported 2 million tons of Canadian NBSK, Brian McClay, chairman of Trusted Providers of Global Pulp Market Information, told Bloomberg, highlighting the longstanding reliance …
