The incident took place on Tuesday evening on CC Road near the Hanuman Temple when an out-of-control bulldozer crushed several parked cars and two-wheelers. The incident, caught on camera, drew attention of residents and authorities. A captive elephant overturned a cargo autorickshaw and brought down a motorcyclist near the North Paravur KSRTC bus stand in Ernakulam district of Kerala on Saturday (March 1, 2025) morning. The elephant, Moothakunnam Padmanabhan owned by the Moothakunnam Sree Narayana Mangalam Temple of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam, created tension in the North Paravur town for close to two hours before it was brought to the temple where it was chained. The elephant which was chained at a plot at Moothakunnam was set to be taken for a parade at a temple at Vypeen in the morning. However, it resisted boarding the vehicle and started walking with the mahout still atop. It reportedly took a narrow bylane along the route to Vadakkekara where it overturned the autorickshaw while also leaving people running for cover. Kerala Forest Minister A K Saseendran on Friday said that strict action will be taken if any violation of rules is found in connection with the incident of two elephants running amok during a temple festival here a day ago leading to the death of three persons, including two women. The three elderly persons died amidst a stampede caused as a result of the two elephants getting agitated following the bursting of crackers during the festival at the Manakulangara Temple near Koyilandy here on Thursday evening. The agitated elephants initially attacked each other and during their fight, they hit a nearby building inside the temple premises and one of its walls collapsed on top of the people standing there, which resulted in the deaths, according to the police. The elephants then ran away from the temple premises, causing a stampede as the people gathered for the festival scattered in panic and resulted in injuries to over 20 persons.
