Cyclone Ditwah Tracker Live Updates: As Cyclone Ditwah moves closer to the coastal region of Tamil Nadu, Chennai Airport has cancelled 47 flights scheduled for Sunday due to the anticipated heavy rain. Of the cancelled flights, 36 are domestic and 11 are international. Furthermore, the airport authorities have advised passengers travelling on Sunday to check with their respective airlines for confirmation of departure timings, as more flights may be cancelled if the cyclone intensifies. The cancelled domestic flights include 18 departing flights from Chennai to Madurai, Tiruchi, Thoothukudi, and Salem and 18 arriving flights from the same cities to Chennai. Among the international flights, six departures from Chennai to Colombo (5 flights) and Jaffna (1 flight) have been cancelled, along with five arrivals—four from Colombo and one from Jaffna. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. Rao Many places in Rayalaseema received light to moderate rainfall on Monday, with the highest of 32 mm being recorded at Balapanur in YSR Kadapa district. According to the realtime data provided by the A.P. State Development Planning Society (APSDPS) at 7 p.m. on Monday, Mylavaram and Sunkesula in YSR Kadapa district, Kalumala Doddi and Katikapalli in Chittoor district, Boyalakuntla in Nandyal district and other stations received rain between 10 mm and 30 mm during the day. The rains have brought down the mercury levels, as the maximum temperature recorded in the State on Monday was 41 degrees Celsius at Kanumukkala station in YSR Kadapa district. The India Meteorological Department (IMD)‘s forecast of light to moderate rain at isolated places continues for this week, until April 20. Rao The Andhra Pradesh government has submitted its preliminary report to the Union Government on damages and losses incurred owing to the floods and heavy rains in the State. “The State government estimated that the losses would be around ₹6,880 crore, and urged the Centre to extend help to Andhra Pradesh to tide over the crisis,” said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Speaking to reporters on Saturday (September 7, 2024), the Chief Minister said the Government was compiling the data from various districts. The preliminary report was sent, and a detailed report would be submitted after a thorough assessment of the damage later. 21 trains cancelled, 12 diverted amid heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

The heavy rains have also damaged the railway track between Kesamudram and Mahabubabad in Telangana.
