The Bengaluru City Police have registered a case after a video allegedly showing a man sexually assaulting a cow in the Akkipete area of the city surfaced on social media. According to the complaint filed by PSI Sumangala S.A. of Cottonpet Police Station, who is in charge of the station’s social media monitoring cell, the incident came to light on Saturday after an X account identified as “GarudEyeintel Defence Intel” tagged the police and posted a video seeking immediate action. Police said the video allegedly showed a man arriving on a two-wheeler near Gadde Road in Akkipete on May 5. After noticing that nobody was around, the accused allegedly approached a cow that was laying on the roadside and engaged in an unnatural sexual act, causing physical abuse to the animal. Based on the complaint, a case under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and also under 325 of BNS Act has been registered and efforts are under way to identify and trace the accused. Nearly 100 stray dogs were allegedly killed in Yacharam village near Hyderabad after being poisoned, prompting police to register a case against the local sarpanch and two other panchayat representatives, officials said on Wednesday. Telangana has seen around 500 dog deaths since January. (AFP) According to police, the incident is the latest in a worrying series of mass killings of stray dogs reported across Telangana, with around 500 such deaths recorded in multiple districts since January 6, news agency PTI reported. An animal welfare activist linked to the Stray Animal Foundation of India lodged a complaint at the Yacharam police station, claiming the dogs were injected with a poisonous substance on January 19. Acting on the complaint, police booked the Yacharam gram panchayat sarpanch, secretary and a ward member under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, the report said. Strict action against those involved in rooster fights: NTR Collector S. Dilli Rao

NTR district Collector S. Dilli Rao said strict action will be taken against those participating in, or organising rooster fights, ahead of the Sankranti festival. At a meeting with officials concerned at the Collectorate, here on Monday, Mr. Rao said that rooster fights are banned under Section 10 of the Andhra Pradesh Gaming Act, 1974, and Section 34 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. He urged the officials to ensure that measures were taken to prevent such events and to raise awareness among the public about the existing laws. A Facebook post with horrifying images of the dead puppies said the incident took place Tuesday evening at sector 9 in Dwarka after the three-month-old puppies’ mother was taken away for sterilisation. The puppies, the Facebook post said, were healthy, immunised, dewormed and well-fed. They stayed in the vacant plot. Following the shocking incident, the puppies’ four siblings have been shifted to a nearby animal shelter to keep them safe, the post read.
