₹110 crore disbursed to 1.64 lakh farmers in Annamayya district

The ‘Annadatha Sukhibhava-PM Kisan’ programme was launched at Rayachoti in Annamayya district on Saturday, with ₹110.77 crore credited to the accounts of 1.64 lakh farmers in the district as the first instalment for 2026-27. Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the PM Kisan assistance virtually, while Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu released the State component under Annadatha Sukhibhava. Minister for Transport, Sports and Youth Services, Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, attended the district-level event. Addressing the farmers, the Minister said that the coalition government was implementing welfare measures for farmers and reducing cultivation costs through subsidies on urea, drip irrigation and other inputs. “About 34,000 farmers in Rayachoti constituency received nearly ₹18 crore in the latest instalment,” he said. Collector Nishant Kumar, who also attended the event, cautioned that rainfall would remain below normal this season and urged farmers to conserve water, reduce borewell-based paddy cultivation and adopt micro-irrigation and horticulture crops. CPI  urges Chief Minister to expedite reconstruction of Annamayya Project

The Communist Party of India  (CPI) State secretary Gujjula Eswaraiah has written to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu urging the government to immediately take up and complete the reconstruction of the Annamayya Project in Rajampet constituency, Annamayya district, which was washed away during the devastating floods of November 19, 2021. Mr. Eswaraiah reminded the Chief Minister that the collapse of the project’s earthen bund had left nearly 24 villages submerged, caused the death of 33 people, destroyed over 500 houses, and resulted in enormous loss of livestock and agricultural resources. In his letter on Friday, he blamed the previous YSRCP government and the rampant illegal sand mafia for the tragedy, claiming that excessive sand deposition and failure to clear sand dunes led to the structural weakening of the project. Mr. Eswaraiah pointed out that irrigation engineers had proposed strengthening the breached portion and replacing the dysfunctional fifth spillway gate, in addition to adding 11 new gates. Engineering authorities had estimated a requirement of ₹801 crore, and the government had issued administrative approval for ₹787.77 crore. …

A meeting convened at the Collectorate here on Sunday (September 8) focused on seasonal diseases such as dengue and malaria. Addressing the medical and paramedical staff, the Collector emphasized the need for officials to collaborate effectively in preventing dengue and malaria cases. The Madanapalle division in the district reported high instances of dengue, necessitating the setting up of medical camps to mitigate the spread of the disease, the Collector pointed out. Mr. Sridhar stressed that officials should conduct awareness campaigns in areas with a history of high disease prevalence to educate the public about malaria and dengue. The focus is on taking concerted action to curtail the mosquito population, particularly targeting their larval stage.
