Indian Compound Archers finish medal-less at Antalya World Cup

India’s compound archers continued their poor run as they failed to win a single medal at the 2026 Antalya Archery World Cup in Türkiye on Friday. The last four Indians in contention, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur, T. Ganesh Mani Ratnam, and Kushal Dalal, all crashed out in the round of 32 of their respective individual events. The veteran Jyothi suffered a rare early exit, losing 144-146 to Denmark’s experienced campaigner Tanja Gellenthien, while Parneet bowed out 145-147 to Spain’s Alexa Olivares. Debutant T. Ganesh went down 143-147 to former world champion Nico Wiener of Austria, while Kushal, despite a spirited fight, lost a high-scoring thriller 148-149 to Türkiye’s Emircan Haney. Dhiraj Bommadevara was the only Indian archer to reach the final four on the day, defeating Italy’s Massimiliano Mandia 6-2 in the men’s recurve individual event. ISTANBUL — The last of 174 people stranded in cable cars high above a mountain in southern Turkey were brought to safety Saturday, nearly 23 hours after one pod hit a pole and burst open, killing one person and injuring seven when they plummeted to the rocks below.
