Rajasthan Police seize heroin, cannabis and poppy husk in major anti-narcotics operation

In one of its biggest coordinated anti-narcotics drives, the Rajasthan Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) carried out simultaneous operations across seven districts, arresting eight alleged drug smugglers and seizing large quantities of poppy husk, heroin (chitta), cannabis (ganja) and the synthetic drug MD. The teams also impounded four vehicles — one car and three motorcycles — allegedly used in drug trafficking. The statewide operation was conducted under the guidance of Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar Sharma and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Dinesh MN, with ANTF teams working in coordination with local police units. Punjab Anti-Narcotics Task Force Chandigarh: The Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is leaving no stone unturned in curbing the drug menace in the state. In this regard, the Punjab government has transformed the Special Task Force (STF), which is the top state-level drug law enforcement unit, into the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF). The ANTF has been equipped with extra manpower and resources, along with technology to arrest the proliferation of drug menace in the border state of Punjab. While inaugurating the new office of the ANTF in Mohali, the Punjab CM also unveiled the drug Helpline and WhatsApp Chatbot (9779100200). On the occasion, CM Mann said that the manpower of the ANTF will be doubled to 861 from 400. He added that the new posts for the ANTF will be created as part of the 10,000 new posts that will come in the state’s police department. Noticing a disturbing spike in the number of cases involving alleged MDMA smuggling from Karnataka to Kerala, the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) from various north Kerala districts have started working together to track more suspected drug carriers who reportedly pretend to be couples or family members on tour to facilitate the illegal trade. The Bengaluru-Kozhikode route is now under heightened surveillance with uncompromising inspections. “Bengaluru is seemingly the hub of MDMA supply to north Kerala districts, which we can fight only through intensified surveillance measures and inter-district coordination. DANSAF squads are keen to exchange valuable intelligence inputs with other district units for prompt action,” said a senior police officer with DANSAF in Kozhikode city. He added that flying squads of the Excise department have also joined the information exchange network for stricter enforcement. According to DANSAF sources, over the last four years, special squads under DANSAF have seized synthetic drugs worth ₹2 crore within the Kozhikode city limits.
