The junior selection panel headed by S Sharath announced the squads for the series which includes three one-dayers and two multi-day fixtures. Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan has been named captain of both the teams and Anvay has been named in the white-ball squad. At 17 years and 45 days, Anvay was part of India’s Under-19 squad in the past as well in the lead up to the previous World Cup. Anvay was presented the award for being the top run-getter in the Vijay Merchant Trophy 2023-24 for the state. A wicketkeeper-batter, Anvay made 357 runs from five matches at an average of 45 with four fifties in the under-16 tournament. He was also the highest run-scorer in the under-14 state league tournament while playing for Vijaya Cricket Club, and bagged the award. Batting at the DVR Ground in Mulapadu, Dravid junior’s hundred was instrumental in Karnataka taking the first-innings lead over Jharkhand Under-16 and earning three points in a drawn contest. Playing as the wicket-keeper, Anvay walked in at No. 4 and remained unbeaten on 100 off 153 deliveries on the back of 10 fours and two sixes. Wicketkeeper batter Anvay Dravid, son of former India captain and coach Rahul Dravid, was on Saturday named in the Karnataka probable list of players for the under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy, beginning from December 6. Anvay is the one of the three wicketkeepers named in the 35-member probable list and other two are: Aditya Jha and Joy James. Anvay, who had captained the state under-14 side last year in the inter-zone meet, had cracked an unbeaten 200 for Bangalore Zone against Tumkur Zone in the KSCA Under-16 Inter Zonal tournament recently, underlining his potential. His elder brother Samit is currently playing for Karnataka in the Cooch Behar Trophy against Baroda in Vadodara.
