What to watch this weekend: Here are 6 titles to stream on Netflix, Disney Plus and more

The first weekend of December already looks crowded on the streaming front. Christmas titles are rolling in fast, but there is still plenty here for viewers who would rather skip the tinsel. Michelle Pfeiffer drops a holiday comedy on Prime Video, while George Clooney arrives with a new Netflix film. Apple TV, meanwhile, closes out a thriller that has been building tension all season. Watch holiday edition of With Love, Meghan on Netflix.(Instagram/meghan) US shows and movies to watch this weekend 1. The Last Frontier finale (Apple TV) Apple TV brings the weekend’s biggest finale. The Last Frontier ends its debut season with retired US Marshal Frank Remnick trying to hold his frozen Alaska town together after a transport carrying dangerous convicts crashes miles from home. Jason Clarke leads the show with Dominic Cooper and Haley Bennett backing him. Co-creator Jon Bokenkamp once described the series as “Con Air meets The Fugitive,” which pretty much tells you the speed it moves at. If you have been keeping up, this week ties the bow. If you …

Fountain of Youth movie review: We never got a third National Treasure movie, and thanks to Guy Ritchie, we still haven’t | Movie-review News

After he directed Aladdin — the anonymous 2019 remake that you’d forgotten made over $1 billion at the box office — Guy Ritchie became extremely prolific almost overnight. He made another movie that same year. But more importantly, Aladdin marked a major stylistic evolution for the famously flashy filmmaker: he got really into clothes. Nowadays, you find yourself admiring the tailoring in his films more than the films themselves. There is little, for instance, to like about Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre. But, boy, was Cary Elwes dressed smartly. Unfortunately, the costumes in Ritchie’s recent films are inversely proportional to their quality. The worse the movie, the better the clothes. The clothes in his latest, Fountain of Youth, are excellent. Starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman as estranged siblings who go on an epic adventure to locate the fabled Fountain of Youth, the movie comes across as a third copy of Indiana Jones. Even Nicolas Cage’s two National Treasure films had more spark than Ritchie’s overwritten, bloated, and unevenly paced new adventure film. Fountain of …

Stick trailer: Owen Wilson seeks redemption through young prodigy in sports comedy seres | Hollywood News

Apple TV+ on Thursday released the trailer for their sports comedy series titled Stick. Created by Jason Keller, who has written films like Ford v. Ferrari (2019), Escape Plan (2013) and Machine Gun Preacher (2011), the show revolves around a former pro golfer, Pryce Cahill, played by Owen Wilson. The trailer starts with a scene in a bar, where Cahill is presumably drowning his sorrows after a long day when he is recognised by Mitts (Marc Maron). Much to Cahill’s dismay, Mitts proceeds to narrate the story of his downfall to the entire bar, and how he had a breakdown on live television during a tournament. To add injury to insult, he does this while laughing at him and saying, “Bet you can’t even look at a golf club after a train wreck like that, right?” ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW VIDEO Watch Teaser | Denzel Washignton and Spike Lee reunite for Highest 2 Lowest, featuring ASAP Rocky and Jeffrey Wright Story continues below this ad The scene transitions to a montage of the life of Stick (Pryce …

Apple TV for Android App Now Available on Google Play, to Allow Access to Apple Originals

The Apple TV app for Android devices is now available on Google Play. The Cupertino-based tech giant is also rolling out the Apple TV+ subscription and the Major League Soccer (MLS) Season Pass to Android users with the app. The streaming platform, which was launched in November 2019, arrived on Google TV in 2021, and nearly six years later has become available on Android as well. The app will offer access to Apple’s original shows and movies such as Severance, Slow Horses, CODA, and more. Apple TV Debuts on Android In a newsroom post, the iPhone maker announced the availability of the Apple TV app on Google Play. However, the rollout is ongoing and it might take a few days before the Android app is available to everyone globally. Previously, users required an Apple device or a smart TV with a compatible operating system to access the platform. Now, Android users will be able to consume exclusive content while on the go. Google also confirmed the move in a blog post. The Apple TV app …

The Last of Us, Taaza Khabar, Fauda Season 4, and More: January Web Series on Netflix, Hotstar, Apple TV+

What are the biggest web series and TV shows in January 2023? Kickstarting the New Year is the live-action adaptation of the acclaimed PlayStation video game, The Last of Us, and the fourth season of Fauda. The former is hands down the most anticipated series this year, where you experience an emotional zombie-killing adventure through the eyes of beloved characters, Joel and Ellie, as they navigate a post-apocalyptic America, flush with desperate survivors. HBO’s The Last of Us series premieres January 16 on Disney+ Hotstar. A bit later, check out Fauda season 4, which finally heads to Netflix, following its Israeli premiere in July, and throws brooding soldier Doron Kavillio (Lior Raz) into a new deadly operation in Lebanon. The series is out on January 20 on Netflix. Social media influencer Bhuvan Bam turns up the heat on the local end with his debut in a streaming series, Taaza Khabar, a miraculous tale where he rises the ranks from a sanitation worker to an influential figure in his locality. The series releases on January 6 …

The 10 Best Web Series and TV Shows of 2022

What are the best web series and TV shows of 2022? My list last year was dominated by genre-evolving comedies. But in 2022, it seems proper drama hit back. Most of my favourites below are dramas — there are dramas about dragons, dramas about spiralling chefs, dramas about spiralling stars, dramas about spiralling office employees, dramas about a runaway lawyer, dramas about childhood best friends, dramas about a galaxy-wide rebellion, and inter-generational dramas. That said, there are two comedies on here — one about a group of high school girls, and another about biting female comics that was on my list last year too. Of course, some of those dramas can be comedic at times, just as comedies can be a bit dramatic. But that’s the nature of TV in 2022. As always, I’ve had to leave a lot out. I couldn’t squeeze in Nathan Fielder’s experimental what-genre-is-this The Rehearsal, the new Sicily-set season of rich people satire The White Lotus, the perennially-zany What We Do in the Shadows, the more religious and miserable new …

Emily in Paris 3, Jack Ryan 3, CAT, and More: December Web Series on Netflix, Hotstar, Prime Video

What are the biggest web series and TV shows in December? The third season of Jack Ryan and Emily in Paris lead an otherwise sad month of December. For the former, much of the hype is generated by the fact that it’s been a full three years since the last time we saw John Krasinski breathing life into the titular CIA spy. This time, Jack Ryan takes you to Europe, putting Ryan in line of sight as a falsely implicated fugitive. Jack Ryan season 3 is out December 21 on Amazon Prime Video. On the same day, head over to Netflix and catch up on social media strategist Emily Cooper’s (Lily Collins) antics in Emily in Paris season 3. She’s sporting bangs this time! On the local end, we’ve got another spy thriller in Randeep Hooda’s CAT, the story of a former police informant, who is summoned back into the force to uncover a local drug operation. CAT releases December 9 on Netflix. Then there’s Faadu: A Love Story, where an ambitious, young poet (Pavail …
