Centre approves two multitracking projects costing ₹3,907 crore across Odisha and Jharkhand

File photo for representational purposes only. | Photo Credit: AP The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (July 15, 2025) approved two projects of Ministry of Railways with an approximate total cost of ₹3,907 crore. These projects include doubling of Paradeep – Haridaspur railway line and laying of fourth line on Rajkharsawan – Dangoaposi route. The two projects covering four districts across the States of Odisha and Jharkhand will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 145 kms. Tracks towards development The proposed multi-tracking project will enhance connectivity to approximately 1,526 villages having a population of about 14 lakhs, while, the proposed capacity enhancement will improve rail connectivity to several prominent tourist destinations across the country, including Lalitgiri Buddhist Complex, Shree Baladevjew Temple, Meghahatuburu Hills and more.  The increased line capacity will significantly enhance mobility, resulting in improved operational efficiency and service reliability, an official statement by Indian Railways …

Cabinet approves Rs 14,447 crore Ganga elevated corridor for Varanasi

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of a 46.039-km six-lane elevated corridor along the Ganga in Varanasi at a total cost of Rs 14,447.64 crore. The project will connect National Highway-19 with the Varanasi Ring Road and is aimed at reducing traffic congestion while improving connectivity across the city. The project includes a six-lane elevated carriageway, an iconic cable-stayed bridge, an extradosed foot-over-bridge-cum-major bridge, loops, ramps, link roads and service roads. It will be developed under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). The total project cost includes Rs 6,037.85 crore for civil construction and Rs 541.11 crore for land acquisition under NH(O). File | Photo Credit: PTI With a view to taking the initiative to develop a modern, fast, and integrated regional transport system in the State, the Bihar cabinet on Wednesday (July 9, 2026) accorded in-principle approval for the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for four Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridors. The RRTS system will provide safe, fast, reliable, environmentally sustainable, and efficient last-mile connectivity, benefiting citizens, students, working professionals, and commercial activities across the region. RRTS is a semi-high-speed commuter rail network built to connect metropolitan cities across the National Capital Region.  A total of 22 decisions were taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.  The State cabinet approved an estimated cost of ₹31.59 crore for the preparation of the Alternative Analysis Report (AAR) and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for all four proposed corridors and has entrusted this work to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) on nomination basis, Cabinet Secretariat Department’s Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Arvind Kumar Chaudhary said in a post …

The proposal was approved by the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday during a meeting, also attended by PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, Education Minister Ashish Sood and senior officials of departments concerned. CM Gupta said that entrance gates of schools will be revamped and display the new CM SHRI logo besides the name of the school. The project will also address seepage and dampness in school buildings through waterproofing, include interior and exterior painting, repair plaster, construct or repair boundary walls and fencing, upgrade toilets and drinking water facilities, improve sewerage and drainage systems, develop sports facilities wherever required, repair rainwater harvesting systems, renovate multipurpose halls, and carry out other repair works as per need. Flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 26, 2025, the semi-high-speed train began regular operations on May 27, 2025. It is being maintained and operated by the Western Railway (WR) zone. Sabarmati-Veraval Vande Bharat Route Currently, the Sabarmati-Veraval Vande Bharat Express runs via Viramgam-Surendranagar-Rajkot-Jetalsar-Junagarh. In a letter issued to Western Railway on June 8, 2026, the Railway Board stated: “Ministry of Railways desires that 26901/26902 Sabarmati-Veraval Vande Bharat Express should be operated via Botad-Jetalsar-Junagarh instead of its existing route via Viramgam-Surendranagar-Rajkot-Jetalsar-Junagarh.” It also directed the zonal railway to implement the revised route from the commencement of the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) or the no-booking date, whichever is earlier.
