WPL 2025: Ash Gardner replaces Beth Mooney as Gujarat Giants captain | Cricket News

Gujarat Giants on Wednesday appointed Australian all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner as the team captain for the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season. Gardner takes over from her compatriot Beth Mooney who led the side in the first two seasons of the WPL. In both editions, Gujarat finished bottom of the five-team league, winning only two games apiece in 2023 and 2024. Gardner is a two-time Belinda Clark Award winner and she played a significant role in Australia’s 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medal success. She was the Player of the Tournament at the T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2023. Over the last two seasons in the WPL, she has scored 324 runs and bagged 17 wickets for Gujarat.
