Ashish Nehra names best fielder in cricket | Ipl News

There have been some great fielders in the game of cricket. However, when Gujarat Titans Head Coach Ashish Nehra was asked who he felt was the best fielder, he would pick India’s Ravindra Jadeja. While Jadeja’s contribution with the bat and ball has been rated highly for fielding on the ground in various high-traffic positions, it is tough that the ball would get past Jadeja. Speaking to Star Sports, when Nehra was asked who is the best fielder in the world, he would respond with Jadeja. “I have seen a lot of big fielders, some are good in the outfield, some inside, like Jonty Rhodes, he is the best inside the circle. If you speak about all-around fielding, AB de Villiers’ name comes in, but even Andrew Symonds and Jadeja. but I would put Jadeja ahead of them. It’s not because of his age. When he came in 2008-09 and now, he is still the same. It is his fitness, I don’t know what he eats. If he is eating something different, he should tell …

Ashish Nehra story: Unbreakable spirit inside a battered body | Ipl News

Ashish Nehra’s injury-prone legs would often get pulled when he was part of the Indian dressing room. That banter didn’t escape the attention of the then coach John Wright. In his book Indian Summers, Wright wrote: “Nehra and the team physiotherapist Andrew Leipus spent so much time in each other’s company that players would ask them, ‘So, when are you two tying the knot’? Leipus has a hearty laugh when reminded of the inside joke from Indian cricket’s heady days of change when the template of a new fitness regime was getting shaped. “He is partly the reason my thumbs are worn out,” he says, jokingly. “Even when I left the Indian team, he followed me to Adelaide when he got injured”. The tone of his voice exudes the warmth he shares with the former pace bowler. Among other things, the IPL lends itself to the many reunions on the sidelines of games. Leipus, these days, is with the Punjab Kings. That’s how he ended up bumping into his pet patient from years back—the much-visible …

Sourav Ganguly’s Mega Praise For IPL Team Coach: “Tremendous Game Sense”. Not Rahul Dravid Or Ricky Ponting

Gujarat Titans got their third victory of IPL 2025 on Sunday after they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets. The 2022 champions began their campaign with an 11-run defeat against Punjab Kings but since then, GT made a promising comeback and won the next three games on the trot. SRH, who are known for their fiery batting performances, completely succumbed to GT’s bowling attack and could post only 152/8 in 20 overs. In return, skipper Shubman Gill led from the front and scored an unbeaten 61 as GT chased down the target in just 16.4 overs. Seeing the quick progress of the team, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly took to X (formerly Twitter) and lauded GT head coach Ashish Nehra for his “tremendous game sense”. “Like the way Gujarat has gone about their job in IPL since the first season . There is lot of cricket brain in their team set up and their approach .. Ashish Nehra has really shown his qualities as head coach.. tremendous game sense ..@IPL,” Ganguly wrote on …

Prasidh Krishna, Sai Sudharsan sparkle as Gujarat Titans roll over Mumbai Indians on black-soil Ahmedabad pitch | Ipl News

Gujarat Titans’ choice to pick a blacksoil sluggish track for the game paid off as Mumbai Indians couldn’t adapt, and lost steam in the chase. Gujarat Titans’ assistant coach Parthiv Patel mentioned during the first innings that it was a deliberate choice from his team to choose a black-soil pitch in Ahmedabad that is on the slower side where the ball can stop a touch as Mumbai Indians, he felt, were more used to red-soil tracks. With the ball not coming on, Mumbai would struggle more than their team. He was proved right as the wheels came off the chase in the second half as the 197-run target proved 36 runs beyond them. Prasidh sparkles The timeout at the end of the eight over of the chase triggered rather interesting scenes. MI were 69 for 2. Unsurprisingly, GT coach Ashish Nehra was out there, jabbering away passionately to Kagiso Rabada and Prasidh Krishna. Surprisingly, MI’s Rohit Sharma, who had lost his off stump to a peach of a scrambled offcutter from Mohammad Siraj, was out …

IPL turns 18: The rise of football manager style strong coaches | Ipl News

A support staff standing beside the boundary ropes having an animated discussion; head coach hurrying out to the middle as soon as the umpire points to a time-out; cryptic messages struck outside the dressing room or a paddle being raised to communicate a strategy to the captain or batsmen in the middle; bowling coaches jumping off their seat and hurrying to a bowler for a chat just after being taken for plenty. These are no longer rare visuals, but most frequent in the Indian Premier League. “The pool of captains’ is small. The pool of coaches is bigger,” Mike Hesson who coached Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the past tells The Indian Express. Story continues below this ad In a league that was once the battlefield of shrewd captains, it’s now beginning to incline towards a combat zone headed by master tacticians and strategists enlisting help from support staff to assist with data. With the franchises moving on from MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis as captains, the upcoming IPL …

New Delhi Capitals coach Hemang Badani bats for more Indians at the helm of IPL teams | Cricket News

New Delhi Capitals coach Hemang Badani bats for more Indians at the helm of IPL teams | Cricket News

There is more than a month to go for the Indian Premier League, but there’s already a lot going on in Hemang Badani’s mind. And not without reason. This IPL, he will take over as head coach of Delhi Capitals, who are seeking their first title. After a seven-year stint with Ricky Ponting, they have turned to Badani. Just like Kolkata Knight Riders did three years ago by turning to Chandrakant Pandit and what Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings have done in the past – have an Indian in charge off the field. Having won three successive titles in the Lanka Premier League and ILT20 on Sunday with Dubai Capitals – a sister franchise of Delhi Capitals – and having been part of Sunrisers Eastern Cape SA20 title-winning set-up as batting coach, Badani is a decorated globe-trotting coach. After spending three seasons as Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting coach, this is the first time he would be in the hot seat at an IPL franchise. File photo of Jasprit Bumrah.© BCCI The Indian cricket team travelled to Australia after suffering a 3-0 whitewash at the hands of New Zealand. To make things worse, regular captain Rohit Sharma missed the first game due to the birth of his second child. As a blessing in disguise came up Jasprit Bumrah as stand-in India captain. He not only led the side to a 295-run victory over Australia but also played an intrumental role in the win. Bumrah picked 8 wickets in the game, including a five-wicket haul, and bagged the Player of the Match award. While talking about his contribution in the first Test against AUstralia in Perth, former India player Ashish Nehra said that the player would have bagged a massive sum, had he come at IPL auction. Nehra is the coach of Gujarat Titans. He won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title with the side in 2022 in the role. Notably, Bumrah was retained as the first-choice by Mumbai Indians for Rs 18 crore ahead of IPL 2025 auction. …

World Cup Winner Rubbed “Influential People The Wrong Way”, Says Report, But Won’t Lose Rs 8 Crore Job

File image of the 2011 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team© Twitter@BCCI Very soon, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 retention rules will be announced. There is a lot of mystery on how many players be retained by the franchises. Generally, before any mega auction, the squads see major changes as only a handful of players are allowed to be retained while the rest goes on to the auction pool. The IPL 2025 will see a mega auction and a report in The Indian Express has claimed that teams will be allowed to retain five players with no Right To Match option.  It is not just players who will see a change but coaches too. Already, several teams have seen new coaches being appointed ahead of the new season like Rahul Dravid going to Rajasthan Royals. However, Ashish Nehra, coach of Gujarat Titans, would continue in his role according to a report in Cricbuzz.  There was a review of Nehra, who was a left-arm pacer in the 2011 World Cup winning Indian cricket team, …

Ricky Ponting, IPL Coach, Ex-India Pacer: Report Reveals Choices For Team India Head Coach Job

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking for a new head coach for the men’s cricket team as Rahul Dravid’s stint will come to an end after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2024, and if he wishes to continue, he would have to re-apply for the position, which the veteran has been reportedly denying so far. The multi-format coaching role requires the coach to stay with the team for approximately ten months with the busy men’s team calendar. IANS understands that Dravid is ready to step down from the position regardless of the fact whether it ends with the T20 World Cup title or not and wishes to spend time with family. Even though South Africa, Pakistan and England divide their coaching responsibilities between red-ball and white-ball cricket, the BCCI is still unwilling to adopt a similar strategy because India do not have two distinct player groups for two formats. The BCCI also approached ex-Indian players for the position but they will have to fill the application …
